If you have plastic end links I would replace with the latest GM end links and if you have metal end links that do not make any noise then I wouldn't spend the money on new.!

O.K., so I'm putting my C-5 Base Coupe up for the winter.
Just bought it a month ago.
Active Suspension is fully functional, and I'd rather not remove it.
When I PUNCH it, display states "Active Suspension On" and changes back to odometer.
Are these C6 Z06 shocks going to work with this?
Newbie here, so stop laughing.
109K miles, and shocks are kinda "Skooshy", (mild up and down on highway, makes me nervous with that 'Floating' feeling).
So I know the shocks need replacing.

If you have the ride select switch on the center console, then you have the Magnetic Ride. This feature is not available if you swap out to the C6 Z06 shocks.
Now having said that, if your magnetic shocks are shot, they are quite costly to replace (probably four times what the C6 ones cost).
I didn't have the Selective Ride option, so when I replaced my base shocks I went with the C6 ones. Could not be happier
The C6 Z06 shock is bolt in compatible and just works better, excellent ride, not too stiff, very flat ride, great when you push it.
That with the C6 Z51 sway bars (not the Z06 bars, Z51 is the thickest bar you should go with with stock width tires, wider is not better in this case) and the metal end links you really get a much better ride. Nice and flat/tight.
Couldn't be happier with this mod

We have Active Handling (which does differential braking to correct your line based on the position of the steering wheel and speed of each wheel) and also Magnetic Selective Ride Control which applies a voltage to the special fluid in the shocks to change the viscosity (and hence the "stiffness" of the shock. But we don't have Active Suspension.

Just an update on my Z51 sway bar/Moog end link upgrade to my 99 C5. I had the opportunity last night to make a right hand turn at a deserted street corner at 35 mph with the new upgrades.
It felt and handled the same (or better) than my 04 Le Mans CE with 35k miles.
The 99 C5 has 84k miles.
Needless to say, that upgrade was well worth the 2 hours of labor and sub $300 price tag for all of the parts.

2012 C6 Z06 Shocks!
We sell the 2012 C6 Z06 shocks for $254.60. Many C5 customers ask us why we don’t recommend the 2004 shocks over the 2012. Many people also say that the C6 shocks are only developed for the C6. If you look at all of the basic suspension components between the C5 and C6, they are very much the same. The reason we don’t recommend the 2004 Z06 shocks over the 2012 C6 Z06 shocks is simply because of the price and customer feedback. We have many customers who have tried both sets of shocks and cannot tell the difference between the two, so why not purchase the lesser expensive set!
Thanks. Gene.

Also, do you offer a shorter set that would work better on a lowered C5?
Thanks,

Ordered the shocks today for my 2004. Sounds like this is the way to go to get rid of the selective ride shocks. One leaky shock was going to cost $750 just for the shock. I found someone with a Tech 2 so the simulators are not needed either.

Gene,
maybe a stupid question, as its a bit early.... Have you checked the C7 bits yet to see if the sways will fit? Not sure if they changed them for the new model or not?
