@$%* Airbox Cover!!
My stock airbox cover will not stay closed. The straps keep coming unlocked. I've tried two different brand filters thinking it had something to do with the filter gasket thickness with no success. Everything appears to be in the right place. How to fix this?
I can't speak for all filters, but if you bought a K&N it should have come with a foam spacer that gets permanently attached to the airbox to make the perimeter flange of the filter the right thickness to hold firm when the snaps are closed.

Interesting. The car had a K&N when I bought it. I trashed it due to past negative experience. I bet the flange spacer is still there and causing the issue. I'll check it out tomorrow. Thx for the info!
It is put on with sticky back tape, so you'll probably just have to scrape it off. The bottom of the airbox will have to be unmounted enough that you have full access to the perimeter.
I just took off the hose from the air bridge to the TB, disconnected the air bridge from the top of the radiator shroud, and disconnected the top cover of the airbox from the front of the engine compartment. Then after removing the top cover of the airbox, I was able to swing out the bottom of the airbox, with the airbridge still connected, enough to get to the full perimeter of where it holds the flange.
If there is not much resistance on the clamps when you clamp in place, there is a simple fix. Release each clamp from the air box, and then simply bend the metal bands a little more. You will see where the bands already have slight bend in them. Make those bends a little tighter and the clamps should then snap close an stay closed.

Thanks, I will try that. Did you just bend it with pliers?
Just watched Domingo Beisbol for the first time. As a big fan of Major League and Kenny Powers, I appreciate Domingo Beisbol as it has hints of each. That is fantastic stuff - LOL!!!!!!!!!!!

Do the Zip Tie Mod then and get a free CAI out of it!

I had this happen when I first bought the car. Replaced the air filter with a Wix brand filter and they never came undone again. I imagine the filter I replaced was an incorrect thickness or such and didn't put the necessary pressure on the straps to keep them latched.

You can easily bend them with your hands. Pliers are not needed. Just bend a little at a time and then try to snap closed again to check your progress.

I don't have a reference if what tight is on the clamps. Mine close with little resistance. They aren't lose when in the clamped position, but pop open easily. How much effort to close is normal?
