The tops will be interchangeable. You may have to do some minor adjusting of the door glass to make sure it seals up but nothing major. When I bought a glass top for my '02 a few years ago, I had a very slight wind whistle at the top of the passenger side window. Adjusted the door glass and it seals just like my solid top that came with the car.
As far as cost, expect anywhere from $400 to over $600 depending on condition. You should check the weatherstripping on any top you may look at. It can be pricey to replace all of it.

with c4cruiser. Glass tops come up for sale quite often here on the forum. Only problem is in the shipping. If you go that route and buy one long distance, be sure the seller gets it professionally packaged so it doesn't get damaged in transit. And good luck getting your first Corvette.
There are several pitfalls with a clear top. its not glass its acrylic.. Many are cracked with age , the other thing about the acrylic top is that it's like a sauna in the cabin on a bright sunlit day. I have both original tops. I've owned my car for 14 years. I had the clear top on it for three months when I first got it. Put it on for a few days the second year, and its been in the garage covered for the last 12 years. If you live in a warm state, you wont be using that top in the summer.

I had a similar problem with the t-top in my Trans Am. Hot as hell in the strong summer sun! But, when I had my windows tinted, I had them tint the roof hatches along with the windows and hatchback glass. It made a world of difference! The tint film blocks most of the infrared rays which cause the heat buildup, passing only the visible light. I wouldn't imagine it would cost that much to tint the acrylic roof of a Vette with something darker than the light blue factory tint.

I agree. Mine had a layer of tint on the inside when I bought it. No problems in 90 degree plus heat.
If I buy a 2001 corvette - comes with a removable targa/hard top, can a glass top be purchased for this car later? And what is the cost for one?
I've purchased two additional "glass" tops for my 98 in the last two years. My 98 had the original acrylic top on it when I bought it, but it was scratched up somewhat. I bought a very nice top for $400 locally. However, I recently bought a top for $50 that had a slight crack on the passenger side (about 2-3"). The lady selling it was moving to Calif and needed to sell quick. Got a steal there. Now I have two spare tops. I'm going to sell one and use the $$ to paint the other one to match my Arctic White 98 coupe. Found both tops in the local craigslist.

I'm doing just the opposite, but then again, I live in a more temperate area of the country. My factory painted top has been stored for over 12 years.
