I dont think I have ever hit the limiter in anything except my motorcycles. Lol I had a 2006 yamaha r1 that would hit the limiter in 1st gear at 112 mph....and it didnt take very long to get there I

Don't take it personally - heck, we don't even know you.
Seriously, most folks on here are as helpful as you could ever ask for - we just like to have a bit of fun when no one or thing was hurt/damaged. That's half the reason to be on here.
Glad your car emerged form the lesson unscathed but, as DD II mentioned, don't do it on the way down as the rev limiter can do nothing to save your engine if you over-wind it downshifting. Many here have learned that hard lesson over the years.
OTOH, it is good to hear that you were probing the limits of acceleration of your machine.

Melting Slicks
No fuzzy dice, huh? I was thinking the pink ones would go great with my triple black... Well how about a tiger tail from the gas filler or a coon tail on my antenna? Anyone know where Pep Boys or High Gear moved to? GPS coordinates will be helpful.
Are dice on my valve stems still ok? How about chrome piston door locks? Oh wait - I don't have those... my high school graduation pendant or my ski lift passes? Will any of those pass muster?
Guess it's too low to mount neon light underneath like the tuners... boo hiss, what a bummer.
Thanks guys!

My guess is 95% of the people on this board have hit a rev limiter either in a car or motorcycle at least once. The other 5% are fibbing or don't take the car past 3K RPMS

Not only a rev-limiter, there's also a fuel cut-off programmed in. My guess is you also had that come on and shut the fuel off to save the engine. Three days after I bought my car I went to ATCO drag strip and ran it. It was new and I didn't read anything about the car, just line up and plant the go pedal. Well, the car bogged and died, right there in the middle of the strip. At the time (03)C5's were fairly new and Z06's were brand new, as I drove the car back and got in line all of the ricers were making comments like "rich guy has more money than sense". then someone came over and told me a little about the car. A day later I joined corvette forum and started to really learn about the car. Don't take the snide comments personally, but don't give up on this forum or the corvette community. Its a great place to learn and make friends, at times you might need to wear a flame suit though.

I've bounced off the limiter on the AutoX in Carlisle, as did many other more experienced drivers. This is mainly due to the size of the track, and that for me, trying for second would increase my time. My concern here is that I was nowhere near 70 mph.

I'm all for people reading their owners manuals, but how would reading an owner's manual help with an accidental miss shift? And bent valves and pushrods is grenading an engine?
People also learn a lot about their car when they remove, install and work on their own engine, drivetrain, fuel system, brake system, etc. like I have
