Look at the wheel gap in the picture of the wrangler, and then look at the wheel gap the corvette has in the stock picture that Toque posted. Specifically compare the gap of the rear wheels in the 2 photos.
Don't pay attention to the distance between the frame rails and the ground (which is obviously low).
If you still can't see it no worries, it doesn't bother everyone

Yes... A common catch phrase around here for years.

Very true, and nothing wrong with that. I see stock height Corvette's all the time and still wave to them all ! Its all part of the Corvette brotherhood !

I read a post a few years ago where a new member came on here, and was complaining of a very rough ride quality. He said he bought the car at a dealer used. The dealer told him that the original owner sold it because it had a very rough ride he did not like. Many members had various ideas for him to try to fix the issue. Then one member came on the post and asked him what suspension package was on his car. I don't remember what suspension package it was exactly, but GM put a bump stop, or shipping bracket on the shocks for shipping purposes only. Maybe the Magnetic suspension ? I'm not sure anymore. I think I read that the car would bounce too much with this suspension packege on shipping without the shipping brackets in place.
Anyways... The new member looked under his car for these shipping brackets and found they were STILL on his shocks ! Years after the car had been sold. He removed them and said the car drove perfect !
Just another example that the dealers are not always prepping these cars before selling them.
I have read multiple times over the years about the above issue happening.
Maybe someone can remind me which suspension package had these bump stops or shipping bracket (or what ever) on them for shipping ?
I have seen a picture of them on here before, but for the life of me I can't remember what GM named them.
Since I am new to this version (C5), how can I tell if mine has been lowered on the stock bolts? Is there a measurement I can use somewhere? My car doesn't look as high as some stock height pics I have seen...might just be an illusion or picture angle. Jim

Looks fine to me, but we've already established that I have zero style sense.
Seriously, it looks maybe 1/2" lower than mine. But it's not like we're talking about either low-rider low or monster-truck high: there's just not that much adjustment range on the stock bolts. This thread may be helpful: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/c5-t...de-height.html
I just checked mine according to the link you provided. The individual said he measured over a dozen cars and all were within an 1/8th" @ 28.75" for the rear. Mine is 28 11/16"...within the 1/8" margin, that could be my tires.
I truly love the low look but, decapitating grasshoppers is not high on my list.
I went the "toque" route, just love it!!
LG Coil Overs at std setting from LG, dropped the car about 1 1/2" - not a 4x4 any more
Mine is not a daily driver

Here is a nice link about the adjustments and what not. I have aftermarket bolts and have raised mine up and down and slammed all the way around. It's such an easy thing to do it's whatever floats your boat. If you get tired of being low you can always raise it back up and vice a versa. I personally like the look of a slammed C5 Z06.

It was the magnetic shock option that had the blocks in the shocks for shipping. The rough ride thing was very common when they first came out and dealers were negligent in prepping the cars properly.
I like to have my alignment checked from time to time whether I think it needs it or not. It's small price to pay to save needing tires prematurely and to make sure the car has all the wheels set correctly. I say lower it the way you like it and want it then drop it off for alignment. Its not aomething that your going to absolutely have to do the followingg morning. Your tires aren't going to go bald in a day or two as it won't be that out of wack but trust me any time to alter any suspension settings it will throw the alignment off to some degree.
Only issue I ever have is some driveways I need to come in at an angle to avoid that god awful scraping the front. But that typical of any vette for the most part.
This thread gave me a headache. Im so sick of these stuck up "OMG ANYTHING OTHER THAN BONE STOCK IS A CRIME" Corvette owners coming out and shoving their invalid opinion on others. C5's look like absolute **** with stock height. It makes the car look like a kit car.
