I guess it depends, I live right on the coast in Rhode Island, and the undercarriages of cars that don't see snow here are still covered in at least surface rust. Might be different for Vette's as they are garaged a lot, but I'd still rather get one down South where I know the car has never seen salted roads. Not to mention big-*** potholes.
I'll keep you guys posted. Won't be ready to buy for a couple months, but I'm dead set on finding one. Hopefully all black
One thing I keep hearing is people complaining about the interiors being cheap. Do you guys take any merit in that?
I agree that the interiors are cheap. (Not worthless, but not up to par with the rest of the car.) In fact, the Corvette-only dealer where I bought mine acknowledged that and immediately added that I wasn't spending Ferrari money (with an implied "what do you expect?"). But one of the great things about the Corvette is that it is like a Barbie doll.
Hold on there
What I mean is that it can be optioned, personalized, customized 100s of different ways. It is a great starting point and you can get a lot out of it just bone-stock. Or you can build it to whatever you want it to be.
I especially agree about the part "why did it take me so long to get a 'Vette?"
I wasn't happy with my interior of my car, even though both of mine came with the power sport seat.
The cure for that was a new center console with extra padding from Corvette Mods, and door panel pads that matched the interior. If your head is leaning forward too much after you adjust the seat, you can get the head rest pads that wrap around the top.
All of that will run you around $400 total, but that covers both seats, and you'll be a lot more comfortable cruising in the car.
Be sure to get the Lloyd Ultimate mats for it, and get the matching thick pad for the trunk to cut down on the exhaust/road noise. The money spent on those upgrades is well worth it IMO.
I had to add a little more padding to them to fit perfectly, but it's simple to get 1" foam, cut it and slide it in to suit your neck/head shape angle.
