Should I put one or not?...mine is 01 Z06 , they all know to eat up some oil , so mine does take a little oil ...I don't drive it hard at ...so a decided to take the throttle body off and also noticed that I have some oil on the side of the throttle body too and when I looked inside the intake ..."oh boy!!!" Its like a puddle in there ...so if I put an oil catch can Will this solve the problem? .. I found one on the eBay its not a big one, for I think like $50...or should I buy the "elite engineering" brand one which is like double the price ...
I put an RX on mine about a year ago,but the price has increased on them since then. After more research i wished i would have went with the one from Elite. All LS engines should have a catch can.
Why not the cheaper one ..aren't all of them have the same concept they both have internal chamber and a filter in them where the oily air comes in trough the top then goes trough the filter then exits out into the intake leaving all the oil inside the catch can....
you sound already sold on the cheap one, since you didn't specify a brand, alot of "cheap" one are cans with hoses attached.
but feel free to reinvent the wheel, it's just money
give some feedback on it afterwards, I have an RX, but i'm curious on your findings...
I can't figure out why the PCV Oil Separator that Lingenfelter has isn't more popular. I've used them before. They work great and not having to empty them is a real plus.
ALL LSX MOTORS EAT A LITTLE OIL... Its because of the PCV system, All it is doing is taking your blowback and throwing it back into your intake to be burnt off... It doesn't cause any power problems but just make your intake messy and probably after time will cause your pistons to get dirty... I put one on my old LS6 2001 C5Z and I had probably a 1/16 of a inch in it within 2500 miles and that was getting on her A LOT. My other C5Z also has a Catch can and I have a forged LS7. I probably get about the same with this motor as well. Its just how these cars are. Nothing to be worried about. Throw one on more so to keep your intake clean

I have a 2004 Millenium Yellow ZO6. Prior to placing the catch can on the car, I was noticing a fair amount of soot on the rear fascia. Having the catch can in place and reducing the amount of oil making it to the combustion process greatly reduced the noticable soot on the back of the car.
