Default Thoughts on this rim/tire setup

Planning on putting on new rims and tires on my '02 Vert this year. I've done a bit of research and think I have my selection pinned down and thought I'd get peoples thoughts on them.

Also, if you have the same tire sizes on your car and can provide some pics, I'd appreciate it!

Centennial Cup rims (gloss black)
18x9.5 56mm front
19x10 56mm rear

Hancook V12 tires
275-35-18s in front (25.6 OD, 10.9 Section Width)
285-35-19s in rear (26.9 OD, 11.4 Section Width)

From my research, these are pretty close to the stock tire diameters (25.7 front, 26.7 rear) and within the 1.5" difference needed for TC.

I'm expecting a bit of a bulge from the tires and am looking for that look.

Thoughts?

I read a post somewhere else that commented that these tire sizes would bulge out in the front and look normal in the rear. From the Section Width sizes listed on Hancooks website, it looks like they would both be about 1.5" wider than the rims and should look the same.. Is there something I'm missing here?

Also, if you're a vendor and can ship these rims with these tires installed and road force balanced to my door, I would love a quote!

I hate that the offset is so high. Would love if these wheels were a bit more concave

Rear should be OK, I will be running 285/35/19 Nitto Invo on a 10" with a 55-56mm offset and I have -.5 camber and based on my test my tire will be about 1/8-3/16" past the fender line at the top. you may be a little more with the Hankook, depends on how much camber you are running

Front will stick out, just put your rear tire & rim on front of your car to get an idea, tire section width & offset on stock c5 rims will be close to your stock rear setup, although the stock GY's run a little wide. The 285 I am running on the 10" is identical in width to the stock GY 275 on a 9.5" I will be running a 255/35/19 Nitto Invo on a 9" in front with a 50mm offset.

I do not have any photos, rims out for narrowing.

285 on a 10 inch wheel isn't going to give a bulge look.

10 inch 56mm offset front and rear. 295 rear and 265 front. As you can see the 295 barely has any bulge to it. Front looks stretched.

6speedsteve is correct, fronts poke a little. And rub the lower control arm at full lock.

Same car, same wheels sizes you describe with 285 fronts, 305 rears. And no rub at full lock. No poke. Camber is not backwards. blame the crappy cell phone operator.

Using the Hankooks he describes the 285 section width is 11.4 on a 10" rim per their specs, so you would get about .200 of tire bulge past the rim.

Nitto 11.3 section width 285 on a 10"

Hankook 11.4 section width 285 on a 10"

So, a 10" rim would measure roughly 11" wide at the lip? Similarly, the 9.5 would be about 10.5 wide at the lip?

Thanks for the replies and pics guys.

I have the aftermarket stock sizes Spyders which are 18 x 9.5" and am planning on getting the Michelins 285/35/18's The section width is 11.4" and the tread width is 10.2" on 10" rims according to there web site specs.
I am going to be putting these on a 9.5" rim width which the factory says is ok.
I am hoping this works out for me.

Is that your car in the pic? What tire sizes are on it in the pic? That's the look I'm going for, as far a bit of a bulge and the tires just outside the fenders..

Also, are you running 12" rims on the back, or are those 10s?

Yes thats my car. Those are the stock C5 size rims and tires on my car. They really dont stick out any. They sit inside the fender about an inch. They just look like it. Probabaly because I have the tire shinned up.
The back rims are 9.5" x 18" and the front are I believe are 17" x 9".
Tires are 245's and 275's. I am going to go with Non run flats this time. And will go with the Michelin 285's for the back. Im hoping that will work because they are a little wider then the GY Run flats I have now.

I have those wheels in chrome. I went with 265/35/18 front and 295/30/19 rear S-04s. The 265's are slightly stretched; the 295's are perfect. Tons of pics here:

This is my FRC with the same tire size you want. My rear wheels are 11 x 19 and the tire is narrow for the wheel width. Might go to a 305 or 325. The ride improvement over the stock run flats is huge.[IMG][/IMG]
