Default Twilight Sentenal Mode

I have 2001 conv.I drive it year round weather permitting.Sometimes it sits for 3 weeks. My question is,does Twilight Sentenal mode put any more strain on the battery?

I turned off the Twilight Sentinel on my '01 Vert. Saves wear and tear on the pop up headlights and I am smart enough to turn the lights on and off as I need them.

Twilight sentinel is wrong on so many levels in a Vette.
JMNSHO

I actually tried it once, and removed it after about two days.

Thanks I did not even think about gear wear on headlights.

The first thing I did when I bought my 04 was to turn that idiotic function off. I am more than capable of turning my headlights on and off.

I've had mine off for years.

It really is a horrible option and waste of money.

Besides the wear on the headlight motors, for those of us with HID headlights it is also more wear on the ballast and bulbs. It is a feature akin to the automatic headlights on most cars today, but as stated you can live without it as most remember when it is dark enough to require lights.

I also turned off the memory function...seems like a lot of excess movement having the seat and steering wheel adjust automatically every time I got in it. I could feel it put pressure on the back of my seat when it went all the way back. I bet that adds to the rocking seat problem so many seem to suffer from.

How do you turn off the memory function?

It was an option I found in the DIC. It was called Seat easy entry...I set it to OFF.

Agreed...it was the constant moving of the seat and steering column I wanted to stop. Just like twilight sentinel, anything that causes automatic movement every time you get in the car, can only help lead to premature wear.

Doesn't really hurt the battery, but will put more wear and tear on the headlight motors and gears.

I used to keep my twilight sentinel on all the time but have now turned it off to keep the wear down.

So there is no way to deactivate the memory?

The guy that sold me the car was so into the Twilight Sentry, memory etc. I was just thinking how I was going to shut that crap off.

You can turn off the Twilight Sentry and the Easy Entry/Exit (which will as stated stop the seats from moving back when getting in or out) but not the memory. If you turn off the Easy Entry/Exit the seats and other positions, mirrors, telescoping steering column, will still go to the memory position associated with the FOB you are using when you start the engine.

OK. I will only use one FOB.

Set the memory the same for both fobs, then it won't matter which one you use.

Yep. I had the 2nd one set for my wife and since she is 4'11" it made a huge difference which FOB I grabbed.
It would be nice if you could just disable it, though.
