Ferrari and lamborghini boot?

Thats not a boot thats a gated shifter. I can't imagine that would work in the average car. The shift linkage would have to be perfect and allow for no slop at all. I have driven a car with a gated shifter many years a ago and it is not easy to slam through the gears quickly. Looks super cool though. I would for sure give you a big high five if you made one that would work in a C5

Ferraris have had them forever, as did the DeTomaso Pantera. When we had our Pantera, I had a replacement plate made without the gates, and it did make shifting a whole lot easier.

Not sure how the auto shift plate would work visually, especially with the boot cover off.

Melting Slicks
Every car I've driven that had a shift-gate like that also had a resonance point somewhere in its rev range where the shift lever rattle like a snare drum against the gate.
Not my idea of a desirable feature in a daily driver.
[EDIT: I mean the Lambo/Ferrari style pictured in post #1, not the open-hole version from the link.)
