Interesting, I'll probably look into that for now. Gloss black was my initial idea anyway. Normally I don't like blacked out cars, but I've seen a few blacked out C5s, and they are sexy as hell.

Get the gray plasti dip or one of the many other colors offered. You aren't limited to just black.

Apparently Plasti-dip makes an aluminum finish now, and you can make it look glossy. For $50 I might give it a shot. Still torn between an aluminum look or gloss black though.

What is hot brake dust going to do to plastic dip?

Apparently not much, people use it all the time on wheels. I know it won't last forever, but from what I've read it holds up pretty well.

Seems pretty "redneck" to run around in a vette with rattle bombed wheels.

I have a black car, I was thinking of either painting them flat black, gloss black, silver, chrome paint, or possibly just polishing up the bare aluminum. Anything I do, I'll have to do to the caps as well to make them match. What would you suggest?
I have a black Z06 with the OEM wheels. I like those wheels, but not the dull gray they come in. Since I wanted to keep them, I took them to a local shop here in NJ. USA Wheels. They gave the flat outer surfaces and rims a machined aluminum finish, black powdercoated the rest and then cleared over that for $150/wheel and they look fabulous.

As long as it looks good, who cares? Unfortunately as prices on the c5's keep going down, more people of limited means such as myself will get their hands on them.

I can't afford a new set of wheels, but I hate the wagon wheels, and I have these in hand. I want to make the best I can with what I have.

I just had some wheels that were painted black and unknowing to me had chrome under it sandblasted. Yea that didn't work. I have to get them chemical bath to remove all the chrome.

I was in a similar situation when I got my FRC. The wheels had be repainted and needed to be freshened up. I ended up getting the rubber removed (not sure if you have tires on those wheels you got or not) then took them and had them media blasted and repainted them myself. I painted mine a tri state blue diamond pearl white and for a set of winter wheels I'm really happy with them. As long as you prep the surface correctly you'd be amazed at how nicely refinished wheels can and will turn out.
