Default Most popular tire air compressor

Hi everyone, I've picked up a plug kit for my C5 and am now looking for what compressor most of you are using for your non-runflats. I don't want to go any distance without that safety net even though my tires are brand newish. Thanks

Campbell Hausfeld and Harbor Freight work fine as portable compressors.

A plug kit, can of sealant, jack and a tire wrench might be useful, too.

Be sure to get a high volume type 12v air compressor. Otherwise, it will take a long time to re-inflate the tire from empty.

I think he's looking for a portable unit to carry in the car.
High volume is important.

I got the Slime unit. Haven't had to use it yet. It is also an air mattress/raft inflator, so it works great for camping too.

I am using the Viair 00088 88P Portable Air Compressor. Works incredibly well and is light to carry.

I carry the AAA card. It's light, and fits right in my wallet.

I picked up a Campbell Hausfeld compressor from Wal-Mart several years ago - works very well and fits securely in the rear storage compartment.

I got this jack from a local wrecking yard for $10. It's out of an early 90's Oldsmobile. I got my pump from Harbour Freight. They carry several, but the one I got is in a nice carry bag. The 12V cord was not quite long enough so I bought an extension for it.

Have you tried the jack on the Vette yet? Some of those scissor style jacks are hard to crank from the collapsed position.

I have AARP Motoring, myself. But rather than be reactive and hope for the best service after waiting an hour for a tow truck driver in the rain when I'm late for the airport, I decided to be proactive and get the VIAIR 88P.

I carry one of those rechargeable-self contained portable units from Costco. Comes with a compressor, booster cables, safety light, 12-V cigarette lighter outlet and USB. All in one that fits in the small compartment. Also, a bottle of slime and a plug kit...But no jack....Hmmm got me thinkin'...

Yes I have. I am sure the Vette is lighter than the Olds it came from. Also, as long as you are careful, it fits in the jacking spot without a puck.

I don't know about Slime, but the can of tire inflator/sealer I carry in the Vette says on the label it is safe for TPMS.
