C5 Owner's Manual Question
When we purchased our '98 a year ago, it came with a '97 owner's manual. Were there enough changes made in '98 to warrant the purchase of a new manual (or is the '97 good enough)?

After the popular response that the Corvette received in 1997, GM knew that they had a winner on their hands. So, in 1998, they did not do much to the car but add two notable features; including the addition of the Active Handling System and the addition of a convertible model with a trunk to the vehicle line up for the first time since 1962!
Production numbers for the 1998 model year were up substantially over the 1997 model year. The total was 31,084 vehicles of which 19,235 were coupes and 11,849 were convertibles; for a total of 31 084 vehicles in 1998. In 1997, 9772 coupes were built.
Geoff, your Light Pewter Metallic version was one of 3,276 built in 1998.

You should be able to download a '98 manual from the gmpartshouse.com web site.

Active Handling System (Option)
The optional Active Handling System is a computer
controlled system that helps the driver maintain
directional control of the vehicle in difficult driving
conditions. This is accomplished by selectively applying
any one of the vehicle’s brakes.

No, they are two different systems. The selective real time damping system is for the shocks. The active handling is:
