New intake manifold!

New intake manifold!
Ordering a new intake and tb.... tomorrow. Hahaha Just in doing some research it looks like fast is really the only option. Is there any other intakes worth taking a look at? I have a 99 base. Lt headers full exhaust and a vararam. Looking to do a more aggressive cam and heads as well this summer. I figured the intake would be a great and easy place to kick off from. I just feel I would out grow an ls6 intake pretty quickly. But man.... those fast intakes come with a hefty price tag. Everything I've read so far is pointing to fast. Looks like their intakes leave the most room for growth, the best proven results. and lowest low end loss. I dont see myself ever doing any sort of forced induction. Any thoughts? Im looking to get into the 400/450 range. Its not a track car, but i am looking to make it a little quicker well... a lot quicker with room to grow... cause you know. Its never enough. Hahahaha.

Dont forget new throttle body as well. 400+ is very easy with a stock intake so with the FAST even more so. In fact, I have had a ported FAST 78 on for years and with a TSP 228R and mild heads dynod at 440rwhp.

The FAST intake is a very good one, but yes, it is expensive. As others have said, the LS6 intake would probably work for what you want to do. Tough choice to make.

Thats really what's making this decision so tough. I know the ls6 intake is very good. I didnt know it was really that good though. And definitely the best bang for the buck. My train of thought is why not? Sure im not going to see the full benifit of the fast intake right away. But that might not always be the case. Plus it looks cooler than an ls6. May be not a 1000$ dollars cooler but.. hahaha 1k is hard to swallow for more than I need. and big better best. More air... i figured there were significant advantages going from 78 to a 92mm opening. Including the ability to accommodate a larger bore. Definitely the 102 is just overkill. I didnt realise the ls6 had so much potential over the ls1. Thanks. I guess for a few hundred if I ever got tired of it, it wouldn't be the biggest loss in the world. The biggest issue is this is just one small part of a much bigger picture. I know where I want to be with the cam and heads as far as aggressiveness. I know what I want the interior to become. Know what I want the car to sounds like, look like etc... its a project for me. I have a vision im just trying to figure out the best way to get there. I spoke with a few vendors and they were trying to sell the crap outtve the fast intakes. But of course they were. Thanms for everyones realistic, honest and level headed responses. Im to busy at work now to order up but ill gdt it tonight. Weather's getting nice dont want to much down Time. Hahaha

Just put on the BBK SSI and a full Borla exhaust kit long tubes,x pipe, stingers and it was night and day!
And I've not experienced any of the dreaded heat soak issues so many claim.yes its warmer than the plastic intake obviously but I've yet to not he able to hold my hand on the intake.
Anyways for less than half the cost of the plastic fast I got the aluminum bbk and I love it made a very noticeable difference in addition to the headers/exhaust.

The dreaded "Heatsoak" people speak of is when you are racing and or running it hard through the twisties or street racing, or Dyno pulls etc., that the Composite manifold will let off more heat and keep the manifold temps down and the Aluminum will hold more heat with "some" loss in HP!
The nice thing about the BBK is that it can be ported as well to allow more flow and matching to a motors needs!
Thanks,Matt

I'm curious on your results, has the Vette been dialed in yet on a Dyno for your bolt ons? (That will really make you enjoy your new set-up)

Dialed in as in Dyno time?no.I do however have a F.A.S.T flash tuner I loaded into it since there are no Dyno tuners in the area im in that deal with GM's.we have Anderson ford an hr or 2 away but they're honestly a joke when it comes to tuning.nice parts though especially the camshafts.
It runs very well I've been able to pass about anything on the road from a dig or a roll except for a gas station.
I did the exhaust, intake, and tuner at once so I can't say what I picked up or what's making the biggest bang for the buck but they all seem to work well together so far.I'm sure if I had access to a tuner they could squeeze even more out.

Where do you live at?
There has got to be someone somewhere that can really dial in your set-up. Eventually this will be necessary
