Hurts My Ears....Its That LOUD!!!
Hey Fellas,
Took my 180,000 mile C5 on a road trip yesterday. As is my fortune along the return trip home something in the rear started getting more and more noisy. It got to the point that with the windows up and she has B&B Bullets that the whine would hurt your ears. I had a slightly used 3:42 unit installed a couple of years ago with fresh fluid but that could mean very little. The trans shifts fine and the temp was running around 205-221; saw as high as 232 but it was 100 degrees outside. I have just never heard a diff be as loud as this appears to be and am wondering if anyone has experienced something similar. Gonna put here in the air today, take the wheels off and see if I can isolate this. I am hoping that a wheel bearing has gone south and not the rear but this noise is ear piercing. Suggestions????
Forgot to mention...as with most of these types of noises it only appears under load and goes to very quiet or non-existent when off throttle....
