Default Going under the Knife

Ladies and Gents,
After 17yrs and 3 tours in the desert wrenching on F-16's and doing "Special Missions" my left knee has had enough fun. Doc did some testing and turns out I have Stage 4
Osteoarthritis. Yes had 2nd opinion. 1st from VA and 2nd from a well known surgeon from Desert Banner Health Care. (His team will be operating) Was so wanting a 2004 C5 Z06 in yellow! Still going for the vet but going to have to wait a few months till my left knee heels up. Asked doc if I could still use a standard? Yup, no problem just remember the replacement is not permanent and only good for so long. Automatic it is!! So wish me luck - And I don't have a vette as of yet but everyday sometimes 3x a day for the last 6 months I've learned so so much. I know now just how much fun and how broke this hobby can make you. + most of all you all for the most part seem like a family. And always willing to share and help a brother or sister in need of help or at least go out of each other's way to help. Guys and Girls - God Bless and hopefully God willing - Santa brings me a vette for Christmas! Take care and drive safe!!! Peace out - Gypsy.

If I wanted a Z, I'd get a Z. The clutch could only help your physical therapy to strengthen the muscles and keep the ligaments moving. Beats sitting at the doctor's office or gym pushing on an exercise machine. I was an F4E man myself. Welcome.

Good luck with the surgery. If you have to get an auto, look for a car with Z51. While it's not a ZO6, the handling is great, and the 3.15 gears are a big improvement.

Yeah go with the automatic "Free the right hand". After a couple of months driving in grid lock you'll be glad you don't have to keep clutching.

First of all, thanks for your service.
As a distance runner, I know something about worn-out knees.
Get the surgery in back of you, do the rehab and you'll be in one of these things soon.

Good luck.

Good luck with the surgery. My wife had both knees replaced and recovered just fine; I'm sure you will too. You near Phoenix? I went through Undergraduate Pilot Training at Williams AFB near Chandler over 40 years ago. We loved the area and may return one day. There's a Corvette in your future-- no doubt!

Thanks for your service. There is no one answer in Vette world, but the truth is that they are all a blast. As long as you get one that has been well taken care of (or you want the experience of bringing one back to life), you'll have a ball. Enjoy it!

Thank you for your service.
I had few friends that double knee replacement, and in few months they back playing golf on Sundays.
Good luck, and may your rehab, be quick!
Then can your dream car, and start living the dream.
Was also 43, in the service, Aim High.

Thank you for your service and good luck with your operation.
If you get an auto trans make sure to find a C5 with the 3:15 performance axle ratio option code G92.

Best of luck with the surgery, thanks so much for your service. Auto or 6 speed you will have a blast. Maybe add a little blower to the auto Z51 and you will have more fun than you know what to do with.

ABSOLUTELY Thank you for serving. Good luck on the surgery. I have a couple of friends that have had both knees replaced and are still driving standard transmissions. Using a clutch is a lot easier on your knee than running.
