Default Breather

I have a question. 2004 Z-06 C-5 LS-6, I have a, what they refer to as a Valve cover oil cap breather. It basically replaces the oil filler cap with a breather element. Wen I did that I noticed it was hitting, and leaving a mark on the interior fireproofing hood material. is that normal, or do I need to remove the plastic oil fill tube, and if so how does it get removed, twist off, or preyed off? The breather element is a screw in.
Thanks,

That's normal as it sits a lot higher than the oil cap. I took a razor and cut away the material so it wouldn't come in contact with the breather element.

I use it to vent the crankcase for my forced induction setup

Does your breather have a check valve in it, or just a straight breather?

Thanks for your reply. My mods are cam and heads. does it make a difference, with or without a check valve, I have a straight up breather for my application?
Thank you
