Perhaps google that issue...happens on other vehicles and they could offer a fix. Never read of a C5 having this problem, lucky you?!

Probably a long shot in the dark but maybe clean the connection where the gauge cluster and harness connect with electronic cleaner.

I am seen some sticky gauges before that would not come off the lowest reading. Removing the cluster and manually actuating the needle fixed it. Yours sounds like it is sticking also but may not be able to fixed unless you can ID why and resolve it. You may have to buy a new cluster and swap out the entire unit or just the gauge.

If you want to remove the cluster I can provide a great link for doing that but not at home now. Let me know if you need it.

I've never taken out a HUD equipped gauge cluster but I have had mine out a few times (2000 coupe). It's not that bad and from what I've read, the HUD model just has a few more steps.

From start until cluster is out on the bench, I can have mine out in about 25 minutes. So if it comes down to physically checking your needles, there are worse repairs that take longer and are much more labor intensive.

The HUD cluster just has an extra connector, that is all.
