Totally agree, Mark.
Those of us with polished CCW's and an OCD condition are doomed to a life of back-and-forth, back-and-forth rubbing and polishing and wiping and cleaning . . .
This is why I think I'm going to coated wheels when I swap in the new flares and buy new wheels. The black, powder coated wheels like those on my Mini are a Godsend to the dust-paranoid crowd we belong to. However, the great thing about these CCW polished wheels is that they are easy to repair with respect to small scratches, gouges and curb rash. You can make them look new with a little sanding and polishing. Try that with a painted, PC'ed or chromed wheel - that feature, I will miss.

I rarely ever even wash my wheels. I thought they were 3 shades darker until I got it back from the paint shop and they had cleaned them. Not bashing Ya at all, but glad I don't have that particular OCD!

Mark, for a general cleaning and polishing with no curb rash or other deep scratches, what level (number) wet sanding do you start with and work up from? I'm planning to pull my CCWs in the next week and give them a good cleaning/polish.

I don't drive my car in the rain or anything so they are super easy to clean.
I polish them twice a year and I enjoy doing it.
Nothing like a mare aluminum shine...

I have gone as low as 400 grit before to remove a scratch.
Then to 600, 1000, 1500, 2000, 3000. (3M Wet sand paper)
Then Adam's polish with Webril wipes.
Sure...

Those wheels just look fantastic. Not much better than a set of CCWs all polished up.

I hate keeping up on mine. Guarantees an extra 30-40 min of futzing every time I wash the car. Gotta get the spots out etc. doesn't matter if they're sealed.
Then being 3 piece; as soon as it rolls it throws water everywhere it got trapped. Don't get me started on the rivets.
Good if you like car shows and hate driving. They've sucked a ton of enjoyment out of my car. Looks good at least.
