[Z06] 2001 Z06 questions
I have experienced the oil consumption that I’ve been hearing about. Anyone
had any luck with Chevy fixing that?
Also, the car is really quite...I miss my Mustang's sound (it had magnaflow exhaust)
I'm a bit broke so I can't get anything really expensive. There is a guy that will but on a pipe that just comes off that cat with no muffler. He said it would be really loud.
Anyone here have any experience with a set up like this? Eventually I want to get some really good exhaust, but for now I want to hear the car and don't have much of a budget.
Should I put on the cheap pipes with no mufflers or wait till I can get some good exhaust?
The best thing to do, IMO? Check out the C5 Parts For Sale section OFTEN! Much sooner nowadays than later, you will find what you are looking for in the Parts section. You will see people selling their mods sometimes months after they buy them.
The new Borlas are very popular right now and you can find ads for people selling them at a steal.
You will eventually find a person selling a pristine set of exhausts for a fraction of the price.
Good luck.

I really don't know of any good repair, I think it is a matter of the rings seating in properly. Others will know more, I'm sure. :)
As for your oil consumption, I have experienced it to when I had my 01 vert. You can take it to the dealer to get an oil consumption test. They will re do the rings under warranty if you oil consumption is excessive. Do this right away since you may be close to the end of your warranty. Even if not better to get it fixed now rather then later. If you are getting less then 2000miles a quart then I would have them dor the re ring job. Do not let tehm tell you 1000 miles a quart is OK. Look through the forum under search to see what others are doing also. More knowledge you have the better. Check the C5 forum as well since the 01 C5's had the problem as well as the Z's.
Good luck with your new toy! It is a great car.

Chevrolet did nada for me on the 2 quarts per 450 miles problem. I didn't want a rebuilt engine in a new car so I sold it.
