New to the C5 scene

New to the C5 scene
Coming over from ls1tech. Not sure why I had to create a new SN, but anyway... I've owned many ls1/ls2 cars, so not new to that scene. '05 GTO, '01 WS6, '02 SS.
I still have the '01 WS6 and will never let it go. Heads/cam/suspension - Fully built. Weekend/garage queen.
Good news, I just picked up a '99 C5 Coupe - White. 82k miles. Mostly stock from original owner. Bassani exhaust only. Returning my Accord Lease, and going to make the C5 my DD.
Of course I inherited a slew of small issues, all manageable and was excepted from what I was looking for in terms of price and I wanted a car that I was going to love and bring back to life. And of course, picking out these issues did help with price negotiations
1) Harmonic Balancer Wobbling - making an annoying/embarrassing squeak noise - Changing that very soon.
2) Brakes pads, rotors, and fluid are old
3) Needs new shocks - C6 Z06 shocks are planned
4) Key Fob issues - Driver door doesn't unlock 90% of the time with FOB, one key FOB won't stay programmed
5) One tire sensor dead, rear drivers side
6) Drivers seat with side bolster tear and dreaded seat rock
7) Busted radio, already replaced and with OEM headunit and added AUX bluetooth
The exterior of the car is amazing! Interior is clean too, but needs a full detail. No dents or dings or scratches. It is just in need of a major detail and I can't wait to get her started.
Other plans are, just bought a brand new set of C5 Z06 Argent, 17x9.5 & 18x10.5. Once I get the brakes and shocks completed, the new wheels and tires are going on. Just orders a S&B CAI, other than that, the car will remain mostly stock as my DD... for now.
Cheers!

@F&Yb0dluvr Beautiful bird... I could never sell mine. I sold it once, and bought it back exactly 2 years later from the same buyer!
Love the C5 Z06 wheels on WS6. I will probably swap wheels C5 to WS6 from time to time.

Congrats on the new to you Vette. The C5 is a great car.
Thought you might want to know that there is a module sold by some of the vendors that replaces the 97-00 module that controls the door locks (and I believe it also operates the TPMS) with the same system that is used in the 2001 to 2004 C5. You might want to check this out and see how many key fobs and TMPS sensors are included in the price. It could solve two problems at once. I have an 04 so I never pursued this, but I learned about it when I was considering a 00 that had no key fobs.

So glad you brought this up. I was just about to make a new forum asking if that kit would solve my FOB woes. I think I saw it for $490~, close to the cost of replacing the TPMS and key fobs anyway.
I believe it's this one?

Does the module in the door need to be changed also? - I don't care for the passive system on the key fobs now and that might even be causing the issues at hand. It's so weird. Changed the batteries and cleaned everything and checked all solder points. One key fob will program and stay programed and the other one doesn't stay programed. Then the one key fob only unlocks the drivers side when it wants too. But the passenger side unlocks every time.

Im always interested in anyone who gets a c 5 and what ever problems they encounter as they get into it. My 99 torch red c 5 6 spd has also had its issues. The only common one I see so far is your rocking seats. I installed two seat fix kits from C and S Corvettes that cost 144.00! But it was the best kit available. It took over three hours to do the first one and two hours to do the 2nd one. I have spent almost 3600 on the car since purchase in Nov 14. Im just about at the end of it though. A lot of my work was leather upgrades and some color to the interior. I replaced the drivers side int door panel and A pillar covers becuz they all had cuts in them. Im also replacing the black plastic cowl at the base of the windshield due to a broken clip that prevents the cowl laying flush on the windshield. Also replaced a oil pressure sensor unit. They go bad in c 5 s.. Good luck with your car! BTW, is it a manual or automatic!? Bruce

Yeah. read up on the in-door module problems with the relays. Hoping that's not the issue here since I don't want to take the doors apart. I'm pretty handy with a solder, if not I'll ask one of the product engineers at my office replace it. Only thing I couldn't find it how to trouble shoot the relays... That's why I was hoping it I swap out the key fob kit, that would narrow it down to the relays.

Oh yeah, Oil Pressure unit needs to be replaced too. Previous owner never really go around to fixing little issues. He was an older gentleman that had other cars on his hand. But it was never neglected or miss treated. Just needs a little TLC. Even thought there are a few common issues with C5s, they are never any really major ones. The most is the balancer issue. Everything else are simple fixes. Nothing like my GTO or Audi problems. Ugh.. LS1s and 4LE60 are solid as long as they are serviced.
Always had my heart set on a C5 and finally here
