Maybe you're the hack who can't cut a clean hole and patch it neatly?

Just finished applying a custom-fit reinforcing patch to the bottom of my 2 pieces of wiper tray - no import parts on my ride!

With the relocate neither will you! Haven't heard a lot of feedback on the relocate, would like to know how many have had failures afterwards... I haven't read or heard of ONE!
I agree. I did the relocate a few years ago. When I first bought my car in May of '07 the sending unit was pegged. So before I drove it back to Arizona I had a mechannic I trusted and knew in Nebraska change it out and he did it by removing the intake. After I had it home for about 8 months is went out again. So this time I did it myself and took the intake off. Bought some parts for the relocation and a brass sending unit and it's been working great ever since, almost 7 years now. Have not had to replace it even once yet and if I needed to it would only be a 5 minute job. It's hidden under the fuel rail cover so it's not visible and doesn't leak. This is just me but I would never cut my car to get to it if it was in the original location. Everyone has their own way of doing things and for this job this is what I did.

Default oil pressure sending unit

Just my two cents but to each his own. My c5 is a daily driver which doesn't get driven much being retired. It's under a carport covered with a fitted car cover. Gets washed when it starts showing need and gets caught in rain without worrying about it.

My point is, I love my car as much as the rest of you do. But people like me enjoy using it to the extent that would turn stomachs of the fanatics in the Corvette world. It's my car and it did not disgust me to cut a hole in the wiper tray to make the change. And I do defend the fanatics that would buy a new set of tires because a dog pissed on one of them. That's their right.

Thanks for reading, Jim

Can you post a "how to" to replace the clutch by cutting out the trunk floor?

If you need to do it, might as well take a short cut.

That would be a waste of time unless your doing the Clutch relocate. If you are going to relocate your clutch, you might try a google search. Trunk floor access hole...

Whoever decided on the position of the OPS, has to be the same idiot that chose the location for the prostate gland (with about the same failure-rate I might add).

All I know is, when my prostate pegs out, I am cutting the hole before I try to access the faulty part through the exhaust!

does not make him a hack or lazy! They may have had a specific reason for taking the wiper tray route. It's not a matter of right or wrong way... it's just another option. There are some legit reasons for doing the wiper tray method.
That's not a different way to skin a cat, that's gutting the cat from the inside. Yes they both get the fur free but one way leaves the cat dead.

I'm pretty sure both methods would leave the cat dead..lol they kinda need that hide to make it.

we're not talking about shearing sheep.

I'm not trying to talk anyone into using the access port method to replace the OPS... do it how the hell ever you want to do it. But, the fact is there is more than ONE way to do it, whether you choose that method or not is totally up to the individual.

Here is the deal...if you can change out your OPS by slipping in behind the intake manifold, Awesome. If you take off your intake manifold to do it, COOL! I you decide to make an access port in your wiper tray, Great.
The only thing I strongly emphasize no matter how you do it is that you consider the relocation of the sensor, it will live longer (possibly as long as the engine does) they should have put it in a different location from the factory and we wouldn't have to deal with it!
I can see how the guys that are able to do the "sneak" it in method may not worry near as much about future failures because it only takes them a few minutes to replace it anyway.... I sure don't hold anything against them for that.
If you do the relocate then you shouldn't have to worry about it ever again either!
