Default Catalytic Converters

Hey Guys, I bought a set of high flow Catalytic Converters sometime back, when I went to a locale muffler shop the owner told me if he replaced them my check engine light would stay on and he also stated the converters from the factory where already high flow. Is this true or do I have a exhaust man that just didn't what to work that day? Also if I add a x-pipe will that help in getting a little more aggressive sound from my C5? I have B&B Catback system on now but the sound just not aggressive enough for me. Thanks !

The factory cats are plenty good for any reasonable motor, I only replaced mine on my Z because one stock unit was burnt out.
An x-pipe generally gives a more sporty and exotic sound, but less deep and queiter.
