Default Exhaust advise

I'm thinking about changing exhaust on my 04 Vette. I want it to sound better than the stock exhaust that is on it now..I am looking for advise/info. I'm not trying to get a big increase in power , just want it to sound a lot better than it does now, if it adds horepower thats fine too.. There seem to be a lot of cat. back systems and I don't want to spend the money and be disappointed.. Thanks for your help..

I'm going to tell you what 90% of other responses will be. Go out to some car events and listen to other corvette catback exhausts. The sound is going to be very subjective and you need to decide what you like. Video clips are somewhat helpful, but no substitute for hearing the exhaust note first hand.

My personal preference is for Corsa, but some here don't like it all. Hearing for yourself is the only way to go here.

Most cost effective and best sounding for the investment is the ti mod in my opinion.

Agree with Shakeydeal.
Corsa sounds great to my ears, many think too exotic sounding. I also like the factory Ti system, maybe a bit queit however, even with headers.
Some want a more deep "Ford like" sound.
Headers will increase power and sound level. Cat backs are sound only, don't expect a power gain.
You need to hear options in person if at all possible.

YouTube can be a good starting point, but a car show or better yet a show like Carlisle would be the best place.

I too am a Corsa guy. My uncle is a Borla guy.........

There is a spirited discussion of this on a FB c5 group! It's such a personal choice.
I have a Z06 axle back on mine, partly because I had a Z and liked the sound, lack of drone, and lightness of the titanium. It was also much cheaper than any new aftermarket setup. There are not a lot of exhausts that state there is no drone, and probably as many people who say theirs doesn't drone. The most frequently mentioned model with no drone is the Corsa Sport. MY favorite sound is the Magnaflow, but it drones. Others will chime in, but there's lots of stuff out there and probably 10X the opinions!

Shakey nailed it. Everyone's expectation is different.

Go hear them up close and personal!

Corsa here.

Go to a corvette club meet, event, show etc. I'm with others, there is nothing like hearing yourself. What I might love, you might hate, exhaust note preference is really an individual thing. Audio clips don't really do the job. Best wishes!

Thanks everyone , for sure don't want to rush into anything.. The stock exhaust would be ok if it was a little louder..

Dead on advice. Hearing an exhaust system in person is the only way to go. That said, I sure like the sounds of my Corsa Indy Pace Car catbacks - now called the Sport.

Just put Borla S-Type 2s on my C5. Love the way it sounds and looks. No drone to speak of either.

I'm a Z06 (with the bypass mod) axleback guy - love the sound AND less weight!

Good luck - whatever you choose

Sounds good.

I have had this system on a previous C5 and liked the sound too. I currently have the Magnaflow Performance Series on my C5 and the sound is similar but slightly louder with a little deeper tone. These two are my favorite for sound, looks and quality. The Magnaflows are a little easier to install and align. Add long tube headers and the sound is amazing.

Used Google; search C5 Corvette bypass mod. With the base exhaust being steel any exhaust shop could do it.

Check out XS Power. I did it and am thrilled. Nice rumble at idle. Great throaty sound when on the gas. Zero drone when cruising.
