Default Rocker panel damage - should I bother?

I posted on this in the Tech forum last September...my lazy butt just now getting around to getting pics...

This rocker panel damage was there when I bought the car. Just looking for opinions...right or wrong...if it was yours would you bother putting the $$$$ out to get it fixed at a body shop? Or, just put some touch up on it and go?

I wouldl get it fixed but that's just the way I am. I wouldn't think it would cost but around $2-300. Looks like it got into the fiberglass pretty good.

Is the car a daily driver? High mileage? If so, I wouldn't worry about it. Doesn't look that bad honestly, although it would probably cost a lot to get fixed, and then you have to worry about paint matching, overspray, etc.

Show car? Nope. Daily driver? A few times a week and stored during winter. High mileage? 89K.

To be honest, no one has ever noticed it but me in the year I've had it. My kids and wife think I have a serious case of OCD about it...

I would get it fixed because I'm pretty **** about how my car looks. I think it would bother me with just touch up paint covering the scrape.

I wouldn't bother personally. It's not in a very noticeable spot. I might try and smooth it out and put some touchup paint at the most...

..your wife and kids might have a point. I also have some minor damage underneath (also out of normal sight)..luckily nothing as bad as your scratch. My issues have scratched the paint and did not get into the glass itself.

I've dreamed about squirting some rattle-can on it...naw then I woke up, it would probably look worse and I'd get overspray everywhere, I'm sure.

But that scratch of yours looks ripe for a bit of 'glass repair and paint even if only primer.

On a rainy day that scratch might soak up dirt/water ???

I have edited and showed some pics of mine. My air dam was broke loose too, but I repaired that in the last pic.

I scraped up my rocker not long after getting the car (took the wrong way through a roundabout), but like yours, it's down so low you can't see it without getting on your knees.

I don't spend much time on my knees near the Corvette, unless it's getting washed.

Anyways, I've never bothered to even touch it up. It can't rust, nobody can see the scrape, and one day when the car gets retired from Daily Driver duty she's getting painted electron blue; at that point, it'll finally get fixed.

I would have it repaired professionally, which would probably run you in the $450-600 range. It doesn't look like it's cracked so it should be an easy repair!

I knew a bodyman once who had a saying that might apply to you here:

"below da knees don't concern me..."

You wouldn't believe the tussle it caused to block the panels below the moldings on his repairs.

That scratch won't look good filled with road crud..I'd get it at least filled with epoxy/glass and get a coat of primer/sealer on it. Probably not more than a $100. from a pro or a buddy that knows 'glass repair.

And hey primer usta be COOL..remember??

If you drive your car like I do, I wouldn't pay to get it fixed. I might try to hide it with some touch up paint. I had a few scrapes and they bothered me a lot at first. Touched them up and now I never think about them. I will probably get more.

I doubt if a pro would look at it for 100 bucks.

Sometimes a good local body shop will cut you a break..ya never know. I had my pass side rocker panel completely repaired and GM black painted inc clear for 2 bills by a local pro.

You got a good deal. The body guys around here would not be so nice. They are so busy they wouldn't bother with small jobs like that. Except for a big price.
