Default A Few Odd Electrical Gremlins

Theres a couple things that are bugging me with my c5...

1. When I flip the lights to parking/fog, not headlights. The headlights will still pop up without the headlights actually coming on. I just need to shut them off then back to parking/fog and they dont pop up the second time. Why dont they just stay down!! Lol

2. I get popping/ground noise from the speakers when I shut the car off. It has an aftermarket pioneer cd player but otherwise stock speakers. It did have an amp and subwoofer when I purchased the car but I pulled that out and disconnected the power wire from the battery and disconnected the RCAs from the rear of the Pioneer. It still pops!

3. When I have my blinkers on I can hear some interference through the speakers at the same rate as the blinker and I see some dimming in some of the dash lights at the same rate as the blinker as well.

Can anybody help me with these issues? They arent the worse thing in the world but they are annoying! Thanks

Wow all these Vettes and Im the only one with these issues!

Is there a section on this forum or another site that could steer me in the right direction for tracking the issues down?

In the years I've been on the forum I've never heard of any of these issues! Good luck, this is probably the best place to be asking your questions. Most people will default to asking "is your battery good" when there's an electrical issue for the c5

Normal on almost every car that has pop up headlights, including the C5.

This allows you to pop up the lights, keep them up when you are washing the car, and not heat up the lenses; which would lead to potential cracks/shattering when you rinse with cold water.

Vette10R; Well it seems that a number of us share the C5 electrical gremlins conundrum, I share something similar to #3 on your list of issues. Daytime I get in the car, start it and radio comes on as normal, put it in reverse and heavy static starts with diminished reception, put it in 1st and it stops. Drive about 15 seconds, radio goes off by itself, quick turn of key to off then on and I can turn radio back on. Now the weird thing happens, if it's close to getting dark, this never happens, just acts normal , I suppose someone who has a electrical backround and knowledge will hopefully diagnose yours and my issue/s. I'm just used to the routine now, annoying though !!
Note; None of my buttons/CD/12 disc player work now, this sucks !! Good luck in finding your fix's !!

you should be able to find answers to #2 and 3 here
https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...lectronics-20/

both sound like a wiring issue. #3 sounds like a shielding/ground issue.

i put in a pioneer not 2mo ago and have neither issue but the wiring is soldered to a PAC plug in to the stock bose.

#2 sounds like the factory Bose amp/processor is still connected to the door speakers. It uses a different signal level than normal amps, so the output from most aftermarket head units will do what you describe unless you insert a level-shifter box into the lines. And/or it doesn't like not having its inputs connected and picks up noise from the factory harness that's almost certainly still under the dash.
