Default Checked one off the bucket list!!! Thank You Bloomington Gold!!

At Bloomington Gold Indianapolis yesterday. Part of the Gold Tour was a lap on the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway!!!! I grew up with Mears, Unser's, Foyt, Andretti, so to drive my car on the same track those legends drove at, simply amazing!!!

Over the years you have always heard driver comments about pure size of the Speedway, now I have a better understanding of exactly what mean.

And then there's that yard of bricks!!

Congrats to you. It must be hard to control yourself with visions of those legends racing around the track.

That is so cool. Back in '74 a buddy and I stopped at Indy on our way to Florida. We had the idea we could drive my Mustang around the track. We were so disappointed that we were not allowed to drive and had to ride a tour bus around the track. Not the same.

Goose bumps all over, 6 spd, cell phone video so I had my hands full and it was more awesome than I imagined it could be. I'm back next year for laps and the Tour.

Now we wait and see if 2016 is back at IMS.

I was there yesterday too and thought about doing the Indy lap event, but decided not to.

I did take advantage of the free ride with a Ron Fellows Driving School instructor in a C7 Z06. While it lasted only a little over a minute, it was a blast. Those guys were beating the heck out of the Z06s and had you hanging on for your life. Damn those cars are fast.

Will it be held at the speedway next year? Looks like a blast. We might have to do it.

Assuming this costs something, how much? I live nowhere near any such track, would love to do that though...

A day pass to the event was $20, parking was $5 so you're $25 in the door.

Your had two options for driving your car on the track.

1) I believe they were called Gold Laps. Groups of 10-20 cars were led on the track by a pace car. Two laps, $25.

2) Gold Tour - About a 30 mile plus ride with one lap around the track, $10.

I did the Gold Tour and will try to do both next year.

I was just there with my vette and I hopef I could get on thevtrack with it as well. Assuming I'm back at the 100th running of the Indy 500, you can pay $500 or so for a ride along topping out at about 180, or about a grand to drive yourself. I was being cheap. It's an experience people dream of....

That is cheap! I was thinking a LOT more. I'd do that in a heartbeat (which would be beating much faster)! Too cool.

Wow. No Corvette tax. I am definitely going to try to make it next year. A friend of mine lives in Indianapolis, so maybe we can crash at his house..
