How long is a piece of string, Grasshopper?
Spark plugs can last up to 100,000 miles, although I doubt any of our members allow them to go to that extreme. Because belts and hoses are rubber, they deteriorate with age as well as mileage. A visual inspection is needed at regular intervals or whenever the car is serviced.
When I got my car I changed plugs, wires, fan belt and hoses at 23,000 miles (11 years old) just for preventive maintenance.
