Default Can anyone tell me the MAX angle on a ramp for a C5?

I just bought a new shed/work room (its 12' x 32). It will serve as a workroom, and a garage for my Harley, but occasionally I'll want to work on my C5 in it. I need to build a ramp and need to know the maximum the angle it can be without scraping the frame. exhaust ect. The shorter I can make it, it will be easier to get a couple of trailers into the back yard. The floor of the shed is 18 inches above the ground, I have figured a ramp with a 12 foot hypotenuse, would have an angle of 7.18 degrees, a ramp with a 10 foot hypotenuse would have an angle of 8.62 degrees, and a ramp with a hypotenuse of 8 foot with have an angle of 10.8 degrees. My car is stock height, I haven't lowered it.

Does any one know if I can go with the 8 foot ramp or do I need to go with a longer ramp?

Go to the RaceRamp website. They have numerous dimensioned sketches and angle calculations.

It looks like the low profile race ramps have an angle of 10.8 degrees, which is what a ramp with a hypotenuse of 8' figures out to. Thanks

If you make the ramp 10' long it will work for your future C6 or C7.

i made these for working on the car and you might be able to adapt this design for your purpose. i am thinking if you extend it with another level higher?

I doubt there will be a C6 or C7 in my future. I bought my C5 new I've done a ton of mods to it, I've only got 27k miles on it. My next big mod will be the Big one I've done all the chassis mods the brakes forged wheels lt's time for an LS 5 or 6 or a turbo

If you make it so the approach isn't DEAD on and you can get just a little angle when your pulling in you could probably get by with the 8 foot...
you still may rub the air dams on the sides but they can be replaced or simply removed
Is it just a single drive or double car drive... again the angle you hit any incline with in a C5 makes a BIG difference in rubbing or not....
