Default Strange oil leak.. Help!

Ok it's not the oil pressure switch, not the oil level sensor, I don't believe it's the oil pan.. When I start it, it begins to drip off the oil pan on the right side close to the oil filter(it's not the oil filter) it will drip as long as it's running BUT if you turn the engine off for a minute and start it back it quits dripping! I'm lost

It is the oil temperature sensor.

What puzzles me is its a fairly steady leak until you turn the engine off and start it back.. Then no more leak?

Default leak

there is oil pressure to that temp sensor. I just had the motor out of my 2001 and replaced the metal gasket under the adapter for that sensor during the rebuild. I am sure it would have oil pressure on it when engine is running.

Are you talking about the part that has two 10mm bolts holding it on just above the oil filter? It does have a gasket there that those bolts go through, gonna check that when I cold start it in the morning!

I believe there is an oil galley plug on that side of the block near the oil filter and also look around the main cap bolts along the side of the block... is there any oil leaking between the motor and bellhousing?... that could indicate a rear main or cover leak, removing the inspection cover you should be able to identify if one of those is the cause... if you have any pics that may help us as well

Doesn't appear to be coming from the bell housing, will try to take pics in a bit

My bet is the oil sending unit. Slight leak, spills out when your start it up (that when you have the most pressure... you'll notice the pressure goes down as it warms up) and runs down the back of the motor. Others have had the same issue.
