Default What to sell my c5 for

Just looking for opinions on what my car is worth. 97 red coupe. Lots of mods, a.r.e. heads and cam, headers, exhaust, throttle body, shift kit, programing, lowered about 101000 miles. Not it tip top shape but still looks great for the most part. Has been t boned about 10 years ago. Fully fixed. somewhat larger scrape on bottom rocker panel. Dont see it unless you are looking for it. $6500 alpine stereo system that is not working. I think the radio itself needs repair. Still have original bose. Still have original catalinic converter in a bag(chopped them off at the heads and cam install) sunvisors are getting a tad weathered, both side mirrors are "loose" did a silicone fix but one failed already. Seat covers are looking a little rough. Have brand new black interior that I bought and never even opened the box. Painted flame engine covers that look great, and some chrome cape under the hood also. If I remember correctly I was in the upper 400hp range. Fast, loud(you all know that) paint kept up very nicely. Sharp looking car. I was thinking about asking 10 or 11k to try and sell fast. Too much or too little. I want to be fair to myself and buyer. Thanks for any help. Automatic

Did it receive a salvage title after the accident? If so, I think your price will need adjusting.

Those mods are going to really limit perspective buyers. A $6500 radio that doesn't work is worth $0. The accident ten years ago isn't going to help.

Lots of things (mainly cosmetic from your description) wrong with the car that you never fixed or replaced. As a buyer, I would be asking myself, "what else hasn't been repaired or serviced"?

I am going to say $8000 for somebody looking for a "project car".

Good luck with your sale.

I wouldn't buy it for $5000. I have enough problems.

not sure why the stubby pics after I reduced the size. Never happened before but at least it shows the car. If I cant get 10k I would just keep it. thats why I'm here asking. Not trying to sell you a car, just asking what you would ask for it if you were selling it.

Of course you might get more than 10K for it. Who knows? Give it a shot and if not, keep it. It might be worth more to you than other people.

Looks good to me.
If I was you, get the stereo fixed before selling.
I'd ask for more than $11 K for it then settle for $11 K

Default The stereo

Agreed with others, except I'd say a broken stereo makes the car actually worth less, not $0
Fix it or put the factory (or another head unit) in there before you sell it.

Its only been 4 or 5 years now. I like the engine sound. Perhaps I should check the fuse. I dont drive it much and it got put on a back burner with my new house then again with the new boat. Time to cycle back around to the vette with the boat restored now and the house in decent shape.

I've seen Alpine head units for $200.

If it runs good and just needs some cosmetic things, I think someone might pay 10-11k. The bolt on mods will turn some buyers off but others want the fastest C5 they can find for the price, so you just need to find that type of buyer. Resale red doesn't hurt either.

The T-bone is going to hurt the price more than anything. Many people will not buy a car that's been in an accident. Once I unknowingly got stuck with a car that had been in a serious accident. It was almost impossible to sell because I told the potential buyers about the repaired damage I had discovered. Pretty much gave it away.

Mate,

I didn't mean to knock the wind out of your sails, I was just telling you what I would be asking myself as a potential buyer.

Fix the radio or reinstall the Bose. Take the time and recover the seats. Sand back or fill in the damaged rocker panel and respray. "If I remember correctly I was in the upper 400hp range" doesn't cut it. Where's the dyno readout? Anybody buying a car with those mods wants to be able to brag about RWHP.

Take a look at the car from a buyers point of view, not a sellers.

It's a nice looking car. If you can't sell it for what you think it is worth, then fix it and enjoy it! Otherwise, sell it for whatever the market determines the going price to be and move on.

Agree with others, cosmetics, t-bone, radio, etc... 10k will be a reach for a pre 02 model.

Just for the record even though it dont matter. I do have dyno results, just been about 15 years since I looked at them. And looking at it as a buyer is exactly why I asked the question to the forum." Good input as I was looking for, I wont get personal about the car, I get the whole value thing and what its worth to who. Again, why I asked the question. Thanks for the input. Just dont want to rip myself off I guess is the end reason. Ofcourse it wont sell if I put it up higher. Figured I'd get an accurate number here.

Didn't see an answer to the 1st question; was it a salvage title? If so I also think the $8K mark is about right. But heck, try $10K or $11K, keep it if not satisfied with what it's worth in dollars.
