Default Have you seen this C5? - Smithville NJ 10/18

Alright, I know this is a long shot, but I am very frustrated. My best friend and I drove down to Smithville, NJ today to see the annual Corvette show. My vette was not in the show, so I was stuck parking in the general lot. I considered myself lucky, though, to end up parked in a strip of other corvettes. I thought my car would be safe amongst friends. I was tucked between a grey C5 and a white C7. I even took a picture because I thought it was such a great lineup.

When I returned, all the other vettes were gone, and I was shocked to discover a streak of grey paint on the rear passenger corner of my car. I took the "after pictures" at night, so its tough to see, but the fiberglass has some small cracks in it too.

I really wish I had thought to take a picture of the rear ends of these cars. All vettes (grey C5, white C7, Black C6 gran sport, red C6 Gran sport) were together in a group, and the people in the grey C5 were a couple who appeared to be in their early 60s, and greeted me very pleasantly earlier in the day.

I know its very unlikely that I will get an response here, but it just really frustrates me that after all the supermarkets and walmarts I've parked in, among random cars, it is another corvette that hits me.

Also, it rained on the way back from the show. My car is not normally that dirty.

Thanks

How can you be certain it was a Corvette driver that hit your car?

I realize I cannot be certain, it just seems to add up to that car, given that it is grey paint left on my car.

I probably dont have any hope of proving anything, or getting any kind of compensation, really just ranting.

Oh believe me, I would be very upset myself. I'm just thinking the Corvette driver next to you would be a careful, considerate driver owning a nice Corvette. You would think he would have left a note if it were him.

Did you back out when you left? Doubt the grey Vette did either.

I dont really see how it happened at all, but in my head im picturing the grey vette being unable to go forward for whatever reason, deciding to back out, and swinging their rear end, accidentally rubbing the drivers side nose against my rear quarter panel.

Maybe it was so softly they didnt know it happened? Maybe i'm totally off-base.

Looks like a big gap between you and the gray c5, would take a really dumb move to hit you.

You never know, but from the pics of where the cars are parked it sure looks like the grey C5 could just pull out forward.

I'm thinking someone who was backing out from the row behind you struck the car - esp since you have a pretty bad scratch on the back, which then collapsed the tail piece, and allowed scratching of the R rear QP.

I'm looking at that dark Jeep SUV with the metal rear bumper

The "imprint" on your bumper has some pretty clear "definition", like a metal bumper "rub strip"....

Could have been that Honda or Ford parked behind you.

That's a raised bumper. To put two equal lines that high up on your quarter panel you'd have to smash the top of the fender on a c5; and if they were turning to do it; the tire would hit the car.

You got bashed by some careless ***.
