Should I Buy This C5?

I think the price is OK for that year and mileage. A little lower would be nice, but if the car checks out OK, then it is certainly not out of line. I actually like the black stripes on the car, but since they are vinyl, that's an easy change to make. New tires is a plus as are the dual targa tops and the fact the dealer will fix the paint issues is a positive.
I think it's fair for a dealer - - -make sure they inspect it- or you do- stem to stern and run through the list of services at 100k miles- - - coolant flush, and all the fluids.
Enjoy - -

It's your call. I just purchased a 1999 with 22,000 miles for $5k more with both factory tops. I know it was on the high side, but it was what I wanted. I looked for 2 years for the right one to show up. You will know it when the right car is in front of you. There will be no stopping yourself. Don't be afraid to say no & be prepared to take whole day trips to look at a car that sounded great, but turned out to be a POJ.
The search is half the fun :-)

it looks nice, i bought a 2000 back in aug for $9500.
when they talk about "welcome to the madness" be prepared.
i think the one thing to remember, it looks like a new car (mine did for the most part).
but remember this is a 17 year old car (mine was 15)....in a lot of ways its an old car.
i was a bit frustrated w/ mine when i got it.
AC doesnt work (i've been quoted 900$ to fix it)
things that went wrong when i got it:
left passenger window motor, had serpentine belt problems 2x (towing was not fun), turn lights wouldn't work.
the other thing is the sensors are pretty much shot, so you get warnings all the time.
so i put a bit of money into my car. expect to do the same.
i'd have it checked by some other co other than the dealership, to tell you what is going to go wrong.
somethings will just go wrong when you have a car this old.
that said, now that all things running decent. i do like my car. it's crazy fast. fun to drive. and looks like no other.
for the money, it's hard to beat it.
good luck!

Hum I must be the only one that likes the stripes.
Good fine would jump on that one. I too was looking for 5 years every since I sold my 2005 GT mustang due to hard times. This year here in Austin found a 98 AT conv with 78k miles. The dealer manager owned it and had zero problems with it. Did all recalls no problems with anything since I got it.
What impressed was all these cars still look like the rolled off the showroom floor as being as old as they are
Good luck with what every you choose.

Bought my 99 with 108K three years ago for $12,300.oo. Did the usual stuff, carfax, owner research, But knew the first second I saw it, THIS WAS THE CAR FOR ME. I jumped. Now, 30K miles and 12 states later, I'm still happier than a pig in poo.
Car has been exceptional.
The usual gremlins. But all fixed easily with the help (Thank you all) of this very forum.
If you've never owned an LS engine car before, get ready to LEARN new stuff.
Drive it like you stole it...

I paid $15,685 for this vehicle from a GM dealer last week in FL https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...his-today.html
Sweet vehicle in very good shape. Only item I can find that's not OE is the exhaust system. Two tops also. The vehicle was delivered to my house on a flat bed 100+ miles away included in price. Received a small warranty, but nothing special. Low mile vehicle and GM dealership attracted me to this vehicle. Almost identical to the one you are looking at

Absolutely!
HOWEVER, as we all know, in today's age of "gee-whiz", electronically laden cars, an older car, no matter how well maintained, can be rendered obsolete by parts that are no longer available, when the inevitable occurs....

Ok good idea I'll buy a couple hundred dollar plane ticket to fly 1000 miles away, take a couple days off work, then pay for gas to drive all the way back to get the same car for $9500 in one of your "low price areas". Sounds like a wash to me money wise? I have been looking in washington, Oregon, & norther cal for over a month and this has been by far the cleanest car under 14k I have seen with under 100k. I think my search radius is plenty good.
you are much better off to pay a little more in the PNW than flying across the country to save $$ off the list price which will be a wash when it is all said and done.
You know the dealer and they know you, so sounds like a good deal.

Sorry to hear your craigslist problems. I got mine off Craigslist. Seller answered phone first time I called within three rings of the phone.
We spoke, he e-mailed me the VIN, I did my own CarFax, spoke again, e-mailed more pictures to me.
I bought it (200 miles away) and had it flat-bed trucked to my house.
Been driving the hell out of it since.
I wish you the same luck.
Mine is a '99, bought with 108K and now over 136 K in two driving seasons.
Just do yourself a BIG FAVOR...
Go to the C5 forum and read the hell out of the 'stickies',
"One of the Best Threads ever posted Newbies must read."
and
"Help for buying a C5 and also some technical information files"
You'll be doing yourself a big favor with those two threads.

Well I bought it and took delivery Monday night. Today we had a few dry hours so I pulled the vinyl stripes today. Ran it through deq and got it ready for storage for a couple months until I'm done building my garage cabinets. Then It will be about a month for a full exterior detail and interior. And a complete fluid change and service.

Nice buying decision.
I would have been put off by fear of obsolete parts, but you already considered that in your buying decision. Plus, decisions based in fear are seldom good.
enjoy it. I was always told shiny side up, rubber side down.

NADA has it at $14,500 for clean retail. So I think $10,500 is a great number.
