Thats what I thought, edmunds had it around 14k as well. KBB is way off for my area on corvettes, they are so low i wish i could find a car for the prices they say they are at.

Great looking car. That color with those rims makes a great combination. Now all you have to do is not strain your face muscles with that huge smile you will have every time you drive it!

That can't be done. The smile is automatic.

In the old days we didn't have nanny electronics, traction control was regulated by my right foot, active handling was controlled by my arms. Anti-lock brakes are not good to live without, not in this day and age of moron drivers everywhere though. If you can live without the nanny sensors its no big deal. But i do agree with leadfoot4. To all buying a C5, look for a well maintained 2004, high mileage is nothing to fear. Parts you can't buy are !

I agree that parts you can't get can be a problem, If and when you may have a problem. But when you read through these threads and hear the owners of pre 01 cars tell you that they have not had the problems, that is first hand knowledge. I know of personally 3-98, One with 90000 miles, mine with 46000 miles and one with 31000 miles,(knock on wood) That have not had the problems that you hear a lot about that the parts are not available. You may have these problems then again you may not. Good luck with your new vette.

My general experience with "bargain cars " are they aren't . I recently purchased a 2000 naussau blue FRC from the original owner with 48,000 miles for close to his asking price because I fell in love with it , was in mint shape and was 96% stock . When I took delivery of it , the old ELO song mr blue sky came on the radio as I was driving down the San Diego coast . The only downside was having to put it in storage until the Midwest season of death is over .

Make the dealer fix the paint and do the 100k maintenance and flush all fluids, check seals, etc.

Then be prepared to use that extra 4k you save to fix the little issues that crop up. People sell cars for a reason. Sure, some people sell 1 and 2 year old cars just because they want the latest and greatest. But people sell 7+ year old cars because problems start cropping up and they don't want to fix them.

This one is 17 years old. So expect to invest some TLC and $$$.

These days, engines last forever if taken care of. It's water pumps, oil pumps, A/C, Fuel pumps, and everything else that goes out on them. Electrical issues are the most fun (sarcasm) because they can be a pain to track down.

Congrats on the purchase. It looks great. I see you removed the stripes. That's nice because you're making it your own and that leads to pure love of your Corvette. It's one of the best parts of the Corvette experience. Enjoy the ride!

Hey Dewoof,

Good decision. Welcome to the family. What other car could you buy for that price that would turn as many heads as that little red Corvette?

Just remember that the popularity of the Corvette will never die. Aftermarket manufacturers will make replacement parts that are often better than factory original due to advances in technology. Check any aftermarket vendor magazine, they are often just a few parts short of being able to assemble an entire car.
