I'm running the htrz2 tires, no issues/complaints. Money was tight at the time and reviews seemed solid enough. If you have more to spend then for sure there are better options available. My car is a daily driver and these are good enough for me for right now.
I am in the same boat as the OP and plan on going with Tire Rack as I do with my other vehicles, I just did a comparison there of the $600 dollar range tires and to me the BF Goodrich G-Force Comp-2AS seems tuff to beat with high 9's in pretty much all the categories that being said I will probably go with the BF G Force Sport Comp-2 as it is for summer and don't I need a AS tire, anyone running that?
I have the Sumitomos on mine, came with the car. They run smooth with no vibration and seem like a good value tire, especially for the price. The only downside is as soon as the temperature drops below 60F I get wheel spin and hop when getting on it. This is probably true with any summer "only" type of tire but think perhaps other brands may not be so susceptible. Next tires will be the Hankooks or Michelins people here seem to like.
Probably will be getting new tires next year. Wanting to get away from the run flats.
Saw Sumitomo HTR Z 2's on Tire Rack for a very reasonable price with pretty good reviews. Does anyone here have any experience with them?
In any case, replacing run-flats with conventional tires will yield a much better ride and overall performance. Unless you're going to use the car for track, don't ignore the Ultra-performance A/S tires. In most cases, you will get an even better ride, less noise, and no apparent loss of performance.
The difference in ride and noise was extreme - far better than the Sumi's, and I can find no difference in performance in spirited (but not track) driving. HIGHLY recommend.
Full bolt on c5 running continental extreme contact dw. They rock dry or wet for street tires. They also wear well and are a good value for the performance. I've seen 140+ in the wet with them without issue. 275/40/17 front with 295/35/18 rears on z06 wheels.
I run the Sumi HTRZ's. I haven't pushed them too hard but they seem to be decent. I like the rim guard and the better ride than the michelins that were on the car. Price was really good too. Rod

Bad for anything wintry though.
If you wanna stay with a Continental tire and use it for winter, too, try the DWS 06. I'm running the previous version ('plain' DWS) because mine is an all-weather driver. They responded well even down to 19* degrees; I learned to have no concerns at all about handling and response in 20-32* weather. The DWS's seem to last forever and they're very quiet, but they're no Toyo Proxes T1R, either.

I run dws on my toyota as a matter of fact. Vette doesn't come out much in winter so snow isn't a concern.
I had a set of DWs on my Focus ST. Noisiest tire I ever had. Went to a Michelin pilot sport a/s. Hated the handling. Back to the OE Goodyear F1 in a plus zero size. Love it. But hated the F1 on my vette and love the Michelin pilot sports. It's funny how the car has something to do with what tire works well. My best friend had DWs on his BOSS 302. Love them on that car.

I went with Michelin Pilot Super sports, I only drive my C5 in summer and rarely rain these are a terrific tire. Pricey yes, however they GRIP!!
These are not a cold weather tire in any way shape or form.
Next time around will look at Potenza's
I think I'm going to get myself a set of the HTRZ-II's as well. It's hard to beat that price and I'm seeing more positive reviews than anything else.
I like Tirerack but as someone who used to work at Discount Tire I really hate the way tire shops nickel and dime you when you don't buy your tires through them (and even when you do actually).
