Front Air Dam-age hog.
How much of a beating has your air dam taken? I live in an area where, whenever I leave home, without fail, I scrap the air dam at least twice, going out and then again in, no matter the speed I'm driving. (It feels SO much worse driving slow!)
Have you guys have any front air dam stories that means they'll last the sands of time and maybe make me feel a little better?
Haha, thanks everyone!

I have to drive 250 feet of dirt on a semi-private drive before I get to pavement, anything above 4 mph and it tears everything up !!!! some lower their cars I don't even think about it !!!! I will ether buy a replacement or I'm thinking of a front air dam conversion !!!

I have learned to drive at angles on challenging scape locations. However, they were designed with the knowledge they would scrape. All three can be easily replaced.

Since I lowered my car I scrap at anytime but it's of no concern where as it's spring loaded and if it breaks or wears out I'll replace it.

The worst I scrape is sometimes on entry/exit to my driveway. It's not every time but occurs sometimes when I don't attack it at a high enough angle.
For speed bumps I use the method thats spoken of in the old C5 owners' VHS tapes. Slow down as much as possible before and then left of brake and give a little bit of gas before going over. Throttle forces the weight rearwards, raising the front slightly. I don't scrape at all on them but it does mean I have to slow to a near crawl speed even at stock ride height.

This. It is an annoying noise, but the air dams are flexible and are not too expensive to replace if they get banged up.

Cut about two inches off mine and don't rub near as often or as hard... car DOES NOT over heat...

after i put the ecs supercharger on my car..my center air damn lasted maybe 2 weeks if that...for me that is two time's out of the garage so maybe 30 miles if that..
so owning a glass shop and having access to sheet metal/break metal and a 10' break machine i made a sheet metal out of anodized bronze/black metal to the shape of the stock one only more into the rad. to help cool it better i added mounting points to the rad support brace with springs and it works flawless so far

I removed the rubber ones on the corners years ago and the car looks a lot cleaner for it. Absolutely no heating issues. The center air dam has never been an problem anywhere I drive. Guess you will have to move! lol

I scrape every time I enter or leave (especially leave) my driveway. It's been 8 years. You would think I would have ground down what is scraping but no. I think it grows back.

Same here. A & A T Trim kit putting down 709 WHP, and not even close to overheating. For me, the side dams never seem to scrape, it was just the center (which has been greatly reduced by trimming it a bit).

mine scraped a lot and im going to take the whole thing off in the spring
Lets face it its pretty much useless , the only time your car overheats is when its sitting in traffic, and that strip of flexible rubber isn't helping anything during that time.

i will have to get some for you for the time being just picture the stock lay out of the center one, which is cut shorter to match the ECS lower rad support then i just extended it i think by either 1 or 2'' to the rad...then used springs with self tapping screws to absorb like the stock one did..so far it has taken some good scraps but still holding on there
