Default air leak

Brought this C5 home in Dec and something didn't feel right. There was a looseness in the rear end. DIC eventually showed rt rear tire low. Added air and then the same thing again. Took it to a Goodyear tire store and this is what they found in my tire. The smaller piece was rattling around in the wheel, the larger one stuck in the tire. I thought it was a wheel bearing. Maybe the original owner did too, which may explain how I got it. Rear wheel bearings are expensive to replace. Anyway, I can't believe how much better it feels. Tire repaired, balanced, what a difference.

That would certainly cause a loss of air in the tire. Good that you finally found the problem.

Strangest Thing I ever run over and caused a flat was a pair of pliers...and it was the handle...it was bent up and stuck right in the tire...

Default Me too

Ran over a broken pair of nippers, the long end went straight thru and destroyed the tire, only had 150 miles on it.

That's a tire plug reamer.. apparently the former owner fixed that tire using a patch kit and broke the reamer off in the tire, or forgot about it and broke it off. leaving one part in the tire cavity, and the other in the tread.

Make sure you watch for an imbalance in case the internal metal belt wires in the radial start to "lump up" If it happens you will need to replace the tire or tires in the back.

Good luck.
