Anyone sprayed their underhood cover?
I'm not looking at a custom version, just want to refresh it a bit in black as its looking a little tired..
Just wondering what sort of paint or whatever would do it as its an unusual surface to paint

It's not painted from the factory, but ultimately the paint you use to re-fresh it doesn't matter. People have used everything from Krylon to BBQ grill paint. Something like a satin, semi gloss or flatter, is typically preferred over full gloss. Cleaning it good beforehand is key and you want to use a non-abrasive brush.
If you want to protect your handy work invest in a front hood seal, which helps to keep debris from entering up front.

I painted mine. Removed it, cleaned with simply green and let it dry WELL! I used a few coats of hi heat BBQ grill flat black paint. I then applied the c5 logo decal. It has held up well.

I removed mine, used a soft bristle brush to remove surface dirt, then sprayed it with Armor All Foaming Tire cleaner. That was a couple years and 10,000 miles ago and it still looks new.

All good ideas. Just get heat resistant paint, clean the insulation pad and spray away.

no way talented enough to paint myself (a man has to know his limitations) I bit the bullet and paid the bucks (think it was 70.00) some on here have said they come off, I followed the instructions very well, they say to do so !!!!! two summers with 17,000 miles and it's all good !!!!!

I sprayed mine with the Armor All tire foam. My liner wasn't in perfect shape to begin with - but it wasn't trashed.
The foam cleaned it up good enough for me. First time I did it I took it off the car...second time I didn't want to mess with it so I just was very careful and did it while it was still installed. No issues and it looks much better for sure.

I removed it from the car, cleaned it with car wash soap and then it dry overnight. I scrubbed a little too hard and ended up pulling some of the liner, be careful.
I probable went a little overboard, but I used three cans of Rust-Oleum High Heat Flat Black Spray Paint, then bought some paint pens from a hobby store to color in the logo.
My liner still looks good after six months of driving even after driving in the rain. I think I spent around 15 bucks for the paint.

I took mine off. Looks better without it on.
One day I'll have it fully painted/cleared and fill in all the holes.
For now it looks ok like this.

hey Mark! I'm glad to be back, feverishly seeking a new C5.
One caveat to those who want to paint the liner, do NOT get aggressive with your "mechanical" cleaning process, whether brushing, wiping, etc. the fibers on the surface raise very easy, and dealing with a hairy surface is a real PITA.
