Have you gone from a Coupe to a 'Vert ??
I'm jonesin' for a 'vert, I confess my targa top is more than I want to handle all the time. And I miss the open air feel.
What are your impressions convertible vs coupe
..good bad or ugly opinions please.

I went from a coupe to a vert and love it. I put the top down much more than I took the targa top off. This is my first convertible of any type and the wife and I really enjoy it. It is also my DD except for snow and it surprised me how little road noise there is and that it is not drafty in the cold.

If the weather renders this possible, I'd say do it. There is nothing like a convertible on a nice sunny day or warm summer night.

Convertibles are fun if you don't mind random stares.
If you have allergies or live in a very hot environment, they aren't as fun.

I do not care for verts, been there done that. That said I have never had my targa off. As I get older I like my creature comforts, its gotten so bad I leave my HVAC set on auto all the time. Come to think of it I don't even know if my power windows work! As I always say different strokes for different folks, ain't no one right answer. So anyone want to explain why I like motorcycles so much? Mike

Have not owned a vert but have owned three C5 coupes. I just like the body lines better on the coupe and if I want open air driving, the targa top comes off. Plus there is plenty of storage room if I need it.
However, if you want a vert, get one. There's no wrong choice IMO.

My car - coupe. The reason I chose the coupe was the lexan top so you still got the light in the car with the top on.
This summer we will be buying #2 for her. It will be a vert and probably a C6 LS3.
Can't wait!

I went from 2 vert's (C4 96 and C5 00) to a 04 Z06. At times I do miss my vert's but had always wanted a Z06. The Z is a beast and I love it, but on days when it's 80 and sunny I do miss the vert. My car is not a DD, it's a car show/weekend toy.

Every day....I love both. But we seem to take the Vert more when the wife and I are together. Vert just seems more fun when we are together. We came to Vettes after being life long Harley Riders and still desire the wind but not the pain....
The Vert top is up or down very easy. Easy to get in also when the top is down and it is surprisingly not as noisy as I thought it would be with the top up. It's a great car. But so is my coupe...I almost never drive the Vert alone, after all the Vert is HERS! If I only had one to choose now that I have had both for 2 years now...I would choose the Vert.

Vert owner in central Florida. The Vette only shop where I bought mine said that when parked outside on a hot day the convertible doesn't get as hot as a FRC, and it cools down faster. I think he is right.
I definitely did not want the body style with the big piece of glass in the back. Just too much heat build up.
I really don't put the top down that often, but it only takes about 60 seconds - either direction.

But I also want a A4, don't want no shifting gears anymore. Had enough of that when I was young. Get one with the Z51 package. If it gets too hot run the air, I do sometimes.

I went from a C3 T-top to a C5 convertible. I liked my C3, but I absolutely love the C5 vert.
I would never go back. I would suggest a light color interior if you choose the vert.

reason for vert choice
Have always loved all performance cars and motorcycles. Last year I sold my 911 and decided to look for a vette, specically a z06. I had owned a number of vettes years ago and always loved them. I had also spent years on bikes but after a friends son was horribly maimed in a bike accident (not his fault) I decided to sell the Harley and look for a vette vert so that I could still enjoy the open feel, wind and sunshine that I got on the bike, but with a much bigger margin of safety, and give the gal and I something we could enjoy together. I found a nice clean, low mileage (30K) 99 6m that we're having fun with. Lots of nice vert type weather here in texas. Still think of that z06, but do have to say that the vert was the best choice for me, the gal and all around enjoyment! Best wishes to all!

I have owned 3 converts and they are nice. It's personal choice. If you plan on running any track (hpde) events you will not be able to run a convert.
