The A8 is amazing, very quick shifts and a nice bark from the exhaust on the up shift. On a decline with a left hand turn at the bottom it downshifted to keep the car in the power band for maximum acceleration out of the turn.
In manual mode using the paddles there is a slight delay but nothing that can't be fixed with a trans tune.

I recommend you go test drive one. The performance is awesome! With the MRC the handling is excellent and the A8 auto's are running 11.80's stock. It has the same power delivery as the C7 Vette but it's a little slower due to the extra weight. Don't buy it for the rear seat though, it's a joke.

All relative though....I think the C5Z is listed as 3115 lbs from the factory, but on a certified truck scale that is calibrated constantly my car is less than 3200 lbs w/ me in it and 1/4 or 1/8th tank of gas. Others seemed to have confirmed this - I think curb weights are listed w/ ALL fluids including a full tank of gas. I think the C5Z runs closer to 3000 lbs even than it does 3120. I also have Nitto NT05's which I think are lighter than stock.
So - while its sweet the Dodge Challenger Hellcat has a staggering 707 lbs - it quite literally is matched in terms of power to weight ratio by a 15 year old '02 Z w/ nothing more than a tune & headers, add a cam in and its eclipsed in that regard, throw in the fact that you can't run anything wider than 10.5" (maybe 11"?) wide rubber on it w/o taking it to a body shop....well you come to realize how much difference weight really makes.
FYI - Challenger hellcat weighs a whopping 4450 lbs.
But hey, I won't argue the new pony cars all look nice, they're comfy, have all the gadgets, are still great bargains, and come w/ a warranty!
But to think a hair under 3700 lbs is considered "lightweight" for a V8 sports car these days haha - you'll NEVER see a mass produced affordable V8 car come close to 3000 lbs or less again I imagine.

I believe the newest gen of camaro (the one the OP has) they made some solid weight loss improvements over the old Zeta platform. I may be wrong (there are so many variations) but I think the new SS w/ stick is like 3650-3700 lbs and the old version like 3900-3950 lbs - combined w/ a little more power that is significant.

Despite the weight the 16 Camaro SS with the A8 has been running 11.80's bone stock. Pretty respectable.
On a side note I just got all my mods in for the car. Got the Range AFM Disable Device, Vitesse Throttle Controller, catch can, and all my detail supplies. Going to be a busy weekend
