Default Any regrets on C6/Z06 shock upgrade?

I'm dropping off my base 02 at the dealer's this thurs to get some work done(oil change/inspection/tire balance etc..) and they are also going to install the new shocks and Z51 sways that so many have upgraded to but I need some reassurance as I'm getting some cold feet on doing the install. The whole job including an alignment is going to run about 350.00 so if I don't like the ride I'll be kicking myself and ponying up another 3-4 hundred to swap them back.
The car has 95000 miles on her and I have to avoid the potholes around here to keep my kidneys in place--quite a jolt when I hit them so I probably need new something or other.
Can anybody dissuade me due to their experience on this or am I going to be ex-tactic with my new suspension? It seems that a lot of you already had Z06's or Z51's and was happy with the change but what about you base C5 owners?
Help me please--I'm tired of breathing in a paper bag...

Also I would not do the alignment for awhile the suspension needs time to settle in. Does your car have the F45 shocks?

No--probably just the original shocks that came on the car.

Great improvement. I have definitely noticed a difference in how it rides with these shocks. Since my car is lowered an added improvement was a bump-steer kit as well. Although, I would prefer coilovers, I have no regrets with a C6 Z06 shock set-up.

Thanks for the reply--Since your's was lowered did you notice any ride height change? I'm not sure if mine has been lowered or not but I like the height it is now and don't want the 4x4 look after the install.

Honestly, I did not see any difference in ride height, after going with the new shocks but, that is my car. You might notice a slight difference after the shocks are just put on but, that's because the shocks may need a little time to compress. I'm speculating that your car is not lowered, so the new shocks are not having to be restrained by a lowering kit. If after some time passes and you don't like the height, a lowering kit is a relatively cheap fix. Just because you put a lowering kit on it, doesn't mean you have to slam it. There's a happy medium in there as well. Hope I was able to clarify some concerns for you.

Definitely do it; zero regrets here. Fairly simple install if you feel like doing it yourself too.

I did this mod several years ago...by keeping the base springs, I kept decent compliance in the suspension to deal with these sh*tty MI roads. Car now corners flat as a pancake...love it!

I don't have a garage, just a carport (with not much room) so since the dealer is going to have her for some other work I figured to just pay the experts and get it done. I replaced the brakes & rotors myself(1st brake job) and had no issues- but my kind of luck almost always involves a stripped or broken bolt or something--plus the wife just got a nice bonus check from work
Thanks for the input.

I don't think you'll have any regrets.

I've had those shocks on my car for the past 20k miles without any issue or concerns in ride quality.
