Has anyone simply changed out their stock tail light bulbs to a high quality red led bulb? If so are you happy with the results ?I like the halos but poor people have small wallets.

I'm thinking the same thing. I think it's 300 for the Halo's. I want them but dang. Interested in what responses you get...

I could be wrong, but I think a red bulb in a red housing is not as bright as a regular bulb (clear?) in a red housing. Something about red bulbs have a shorter wavelength so it's not as bright.

Don't know why those LEDs (in white) wouldn't work well as long as you have a hyperflash bypass, but best to check with the radioflyer.

The white bulb will make more light than the red, BUT the red lens will have to filter out all but red wavelengths. This results in a bright but pinkish color to the lights.

Compare the OEM bulbs to our red LED bulbs where 100% of the light emitted by the LEDs is transmitted through the lens. Both cars have parking lights on, but the one on the left has our LED bulbs:



Here they are on the same car. Driver's side is our LEDs, Passenger side is OEM bulbs....and this is in FULL SUNLIGHT



These are bright enough to even use with a tinted tail light and still be plainly visible.

I have the red/amber euro tail lights and I got red and amber led bulbs from the radio flyer a year or two ago and they are fantastic.

More than that correct? If I have to buy a harness for "hyper-flash". Now we are getting to where ya might as well pony up for Halos and just slap 'em in. Not sure I want to mess with a harness etc. More research/options needed. Good info. though.

I just bought a front DRL led and harness off the sales forum for $50. Car is still in storage so I haven't been able to install them yet.

I assume the harness will work for all the lights, tails included??

Price is based on both quality as well as the market demand, however I agree, we can do better. Price has been adjusted as well as on all the other 3157/1156 bulbs we carry.

Yes unless you install a hyperflash harness or load resistors. (We recommend the former)

So, if I have the hyperflash harness installed for the front DRL's that harness covers the tails as well? No second harness needed in the system?

Correct. One hyperflash harness covers ALL turn signals

I do have a hyper flash harness. I don't remember what I paid for the bulbs, but with the euro set up you need a total of 8 bulbs. If it was $120, that works out to $15 per bulb which is not bad.

I installed LED replacement bulbs behind my tinted OEM taillights. While the lights WERE brighter, I was not happy with how little they increased in brightness when applying the brakes as opposed to the standard bulbs. In other words, if it wasn't for the third brake light, I wasn't confident that someone behind me would know I was braking. I ended up putting standard bulbs back in.

After purchasing 2 sets from other manufacturers that were not bright enough
I bought a set from Radioflyer. I sure wished I would have started there in the the first place. Brake lights at night will cause the people behind you to squint their eyes.

Same thing happened with his headlights. I spent over $500 on HID headlights/ballasts/projector housings from different manufacturers and was never happy.

Once I sat in a car with the Radioflyer ACA projectors at night, I couldn't get my credit card out fast enough.

I'm an extreme do it your selfer, always looking for a way to save a few bucks doing it myself. But when I find products that exceed my expectations, I don't hesitate break out the cash.

I very rarely recommend a product or company as most have disappointed me in some way or another.

Radioflyer is the exception to my rule.

I do not understand your findings. The LED bulbs have an instant-on and a more brilliant hue than the factory bulbs which would make them more noticeable (see video comparing to factory lights)
