I don't know, I've only had her up to 167 mph.

Safety Car
Had mine to163 and still had pedal. I swear the way it felt I could have gotten 190 out of her. This was late at night on a four lane divided hwy. I didn't go from 0 to 160 in one well swoop. I was coming down the on ramp and noticed the HID reading 85, I looked and no one was coming or on the other side of the hwy. I gave it a little more gas an she jumped to 120. I just kept feathering the pedal and 130, 140,150,160, this was over the course of about 7 or 8 miles. I finally saw tail lights way up ahead and slowed her down. When I took the next off ramp and stopped at the stop sign, my heart was beating like crazy. I then started to think about all the stuff that could have happened. I didn't set out to do it, it was something that just kinda' happened. I'm not a speed demon kind of guy, I'm that a-hole in the Vette doing 55 in a 55. I got it out of my system. I don't really know how fast my car will top out at, but I do know she'll go fast enough.
Very ballsy to do a run like that at night.

yea I know, that's why my heart was beating like crazy. If the law had seen me they would have took me to jail and impounded my car, must less a flat tire or hitting a deer at that speed. Wasn't planned just sorta' happened

6th gear won't allow the engine to overcome aerodynamic drag even if the 5-6 shift is at near maximum RPM.
I remember reading some time ago that the C6 Z06 would hit 200 if you removed the outside rear view mirror housings. Leave them on and top speed was 195.

Interesting. I wonder if lowering would get a few more MPH.

Having the car lowered has entered my mind as well.
The underside affects the aerodynamics. Catching air anyplace on the car
makes its ability to slice through the air harder.
The car comes from the factory with bolts that can easily be turned to lower it. It seems to me that those bolts are there for just that reason. Could it be that the car has to be built higher straight from the factory for some legal reason? Why are NASCAR 2” off the pavement? I think so that they will catch as little air as possible.

So what some of you are saying, 6th is no good at high speeds so putting in 4.10 's does what to that equation ?????

I hate you !!!!!!!!!!!!! (not really) we should have a no speed limit Road across the US !!!!!! a lot of it is Desert !!!!!!!!!!! make it with all left lanes for all the Morons !!!!!!!!!!!!

Actually we have a toll road with an 85 mph limit here in Texas. People regularly drive 90 plus with no issues except the left lane blockers. As a side note I have had mine up to 178 mph with plenty left. Wasn't stable over 140 until I upgraded my shocks to Z06 units. My hp is 430 at the wheels.

With 4:10 gears you would actually get less top speed in 5th but you might be able to go faster in 6th. How about you put 4:10 gears in your C5 and then post results. Be sure and look out for cops when doing so
My 98 has 767 rwhp. So, in theory, I should have enough HP to overcome the low 6th gear air drag problem. Will I try it? Probably not in Iowa. Roads just aren't smooth, when I hit 167 mph my 02, she started to feel like she was floating. We should start a fundraiser to send me and my 98 to Germany so I can try it on the Autobahn

Melting Slicks
IIRC, with wind drag etc, top end in reality is around 171.
Unless you have reprogrammed/tuned the computer, there is a routine in the factory programming (which is supposed) to shut down the car at 190.
