My neighbors were laughing at me :(
Are These cars so Sensitive that if the voltage isn't up to par they will turn over fine but not fire? I just put my rebuilt motor back in. Added the oil, coolant and PS fluids. I rechecked all my grounds and wiring before attempting to start as Usual. Couldn't get it to start yesterday after turning it over a few times with the Coils unplugged and then plugging them in (To prime the pump). I have fuel and I have spark. But it sounded like it wanted to fire but just wouldn't. Turned over fine though. I did have to add a Jumper pack to get it to turn over after a few tries. So Im guessing my battery is dead even though it sat on the float charger for 3 weeks.
Going to buy a new battery when I get off. So hopefully that works. The starter was turning over ok and I could hear the plugs trying to fire. But My damn neighbors were outside talking all types of trash when it didn't start lol ! Sooooo Im going to hopefully get it to start today with the new battery. If it does start itll be open header just for my neighbors

They talk about voltage here all the time, I have a digital voltmeter hooked up to the batt. I have seen mine below 12 or around low 12's many times and it always fires right up ?????

If the battery provided enough power to run the starter with no problems, there would be enough power to the ignition system so that the car should start.
For fuel, did you check fuel pressure with a tester? What psi did you see? For spark, did you pull a plug wire and use something like a steel rod to ground the wire to check for a spark? If so, was the spark a bright blue color?
I would suggest that you pull the battery and get it charged at a reputable auto repair shop, then have them test the battery. That may save you the cost of a battery. A fully charged battery will show about 12.6 to 12.8 volts using a DVM across the battery terminals. A battery is considered discharged at 12.0 volts.

Theres one little ITTY BITTY ground wire that EVERYONE forgets about and it causes the EXACT issue that your seeing>
ENGINE GROUND G-106 Look above the starter where the MAIN Battery NEG wires bolts to the engine. There SHOULD be a little BLACK/WHITE STRIPE wire there too!!!
Ive even seen SOME people put that wire on the starter solenoid post!!!

I love my neighbors. We are like a family so we do talk a lot of trash to each other. But I had to hear it all night yesterday while we were in the garage drinking lol. Funny you mention that though...one of my neighbors actually HAS reversed their car into their living room from the garage!!! Now THAT was funny!

Bill I checked those first. I forgot one one time before took hookup that head ground so I always make sure I put it on now. I always zip tie the starter wire in there "clusters" to make putting them back easy. All the grounds are Hooked up. Hopefully its just this stupid battery.

Well,,, It all comes down to CODES,, AIR,,,, FUEL,,,, SPARK,, & COMPRESSION.
Codes are easy!
Ide say you have AIR for sure. Figure out what one of the others your are missing!

Well the battery was definitely dead. Had it on the float charger all night again. It erked me so much I went and got it on my lunch and took it to the battery store. It was charged. But my friend said that once he put even a little load on it it dropped down to far. So....$125 later I have a new battery and hopefully a car that will start later.
Tommy, I always crank mine over once real quick to get the oil pump going. Then It always fires up first try after I hook everything back up. So I knew something was wrong. I guess the starter was taking all the cranking amps the battery had and there was barely any power for the Ignition.
Well see when I get home today My neighbors wont be laughing anymore!

Want to see what happens with this.
I have doubts that the battery is the root cause of the issue. If the battery was strong enough to crank the motor and everything was copacetic, it should have fired off.
