Was anti-seize applied on the plugs when the engine was first assembled at the factory? My '01 has 70K miles and runs great. I really don't want to change plugs at this time.

No they were not !!!! If you wanted take them out now and look at them, determine if they are good enough to put back in and add anti-seize !!!!!
100,000 and 15 plus years can make it difficult to remove !!!

oem recommended replacement ACDelco R44LTSM gaped at .040 with MSD 32819 wires. If I make modifications that require hotter or colder plugs I will change out. These will do for now.

Changed the transmission transfer case fluid today with Dexron VI. Some controversy there but VI is spose to cover all previous grades.

Will change out rear dif and motor oil this weekend. Mobil 1 synthetic. Have to read up on additives for the rear dif.

Hope to get my door soon and get all the hardware transplanted. Gotta find a right front quarter panel, front bumper cover and all 3 parts to the air dam.

Oil pressure shows just under 40 psi at idle. Hope this is accurate.

Someone posted that in the some Manual it states that they used some oil on the threads... I don't know if you could consider that "anti-seize" and I don't know about the factory using some kind of anti-seize... I think this is one question ET could help with... I know this thread has started making me nervous about pulling my OEM plugs... only 40k on them but they have been in the hole for a while now

OK... for what it's worth I private messaged ET and ask VERY specifically IF the FACTORY did or did NOT use some kind of "anti-seize" on the spark plugs when they were installed... No confusing answer just a simple
YES...they used anit-seize

So, I maintain that the problem is probably most often when a previous owner or shop replaced plugs and DID NOT use anti-seize...

I should sleep better tonight

Although I can find NO MENTION of it in my Factory Service Manuals, I ALWAYS use Anti-Seize on plugs in Aluminum Heads... Seen too many screwed plug holes because of this very issue. Which is why I also own the "Spark Plug Hole/Thread Repair Tool" for others I know or have known.

I peeled most of them off. No damage to the paint. Still 3 that are hanging on. I will try and get you a pic.

So I was changing body fluids on this car and noticed something that looks aftermarket. This pic is oriented from rear toward front. Between the cats and muffler is a tube welded between the long tubes.

What would be the purpose for this modification. I can't imagine it would be hp.

Also, the tail pipes and mufflers do not looks stock. Couldn't find any manufacturer stamp. This does not have the vette baffle device.

This is drivers side. Lotsa dirt.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

the pipe welded between the 2 long midpipes is called an h-pipe. it is welded in from the factory. plenty of info on them here, do a search.

The catback however is definitely aftermarket

Thanks. I am such a noob at this stuff that I don't even know what to look up. I did read a thread that talked about folks doing some sort of modification like the first pic to alter the exhaust note.

This is why I ask the experts.

No, he does not have the bypass mod done. You can clearly see the oxygen sensors in his pictures, indicating that the pic is taken from the point of view of the mid pipe. The H-pipe he has is stock. The catback is aftermarket.

Ah... my bad I missed the part about the "first pic" thought he was just referencing some post about changing the exhaust note... Thanks

Charlie, those look like Borla mufflers to me. Should be some markings on them somewhere. Should wake of the neighbors when you get her going. Your H pipe while stock does help with both performance and sound.

Since you are so close by I may have to drop in on your garage sometime!

Drop by anytime. The garage is just outside of Russellville.

I think it is Borla to. Is pretty loud.

Got a mess on my hands. Front fender well is a mess. Took it out and picked up one from Vettenuts. This is gonna be a challenge. Wheel well is glued directly to the frame then your fenders attach to the well. Gotta get the well lined up exactly right or there is no way to get your fender lined up just right. Left some of the old glue welds on the frame. Looks like I need to drill some holes and temporarily attach the well to the frame then put the fender on and adjust until everything is lined up.

This is gonna be fun.

Still need some inspiration for a new bumper cover. I've looked at oem, tigershark and the ZR.
