Programming Memory Settings to Key FOB
I recently purchased a 2003 50th Anniversary Convertible. I have tried to program my preferred memory settings for the driver seat, steering wheel and side mirrors to one of the key fobs. When I unlock the car with the key fob the passenger side mirror is turned way down and not set to my preference. Also the seat moves a fraction of an inch. When I hit memory 1 on the driver door the passenger mirro and drivers seat go to my preferred memory setting.
After setting my memory preferences and holding down the memory 1 key, I get 2 quick flashes from the memory light. I then insert the key into the ignition and press the lock button and then the unlock button on the key fob. There is a light that goes on, on a switch on the left side of the steering wheel. When this light goes off I remove the key. Am I doing this right to program memory setting into the key fob? Or do I need to reprogram my key fobs through the DIC to wipe out any previous memory settings before I program my memory preferences to the key fob?

Here is a cut and paste from the 2003 Owners manual relative to MEMORY, Check that you are following those steps:
If your vehicle has this feature, MEMORY can store and
recall the settings for the driver’s seat position, the
outside rearview mirror positions, telescopic steering
column (if equipped), radio presets, tone, volume,
playback mode (AM/FM, tape or CD), last displayed
station, compact disc position and tape direction and the
last climate control setting.
The MEMORY buttons are located on the driver’s door,
above the power mirror controls. The MEMORY
buttons can store and recall settings for up to three
drivers. Use button 1 to store the settings for the first
driver, button 2 for a second driver or press buttons
1 and 2 at the same time for a third driver. To store your
memory settings, do the following:
1. Adjust your settings for the driver’s seat position,
outside rearview mirror positions, and telescopic
steering wheel (if equipped).
2. Press and hold a MEMORY button. The light above
the MEMORY button will glow steady for one
second and then flash once when the settings are
complete. Then the light will go off.
3. Set the climate control temperature, fan speed and
mode settings, radio presets, tone, volume,
playback mode (AM/FM, tape or CD), tape direction
and compact disc position.
Your memory settings are now programmed. Any
changes that are made to the audio system and climate
controls while driving will be automatically stored
when the ignition key is turned off.
When first entering your vehicle, after pressing the
unlock button on your remote keyless entry transmitter
or a MEMORY button, a recall of your settings will
occur when the door is closed and the ignition key is
in the ignition switch. As the memory settings are
recalled, the light above the button will flash until the
correct settings are achieved, then glow for five seconds
when complete.
A memory recall can be stopped by pressing any
memory seat, mirror or steering column position button.
Drivers 1, 2 and 3 correspond to the order in which your
remote keyless entry transmitters were programmed.
See Remote Keyless Entry System on page 2-5
for more information.
Memory recall will not work if the vehicle is moving.
Memory recall will be temporarily interrupted during
engine crank.
If easy entry is on, you must press the MEMORY button
to reset the seat.

Just went out to my garage and moved the seat position then pressed the #1 button until it flashed once.. I then used the fob to lock and then unlock the door and the seat moved back to the position it was before I just programmed it.
I moved the seat to a new position and then pressed the #1 button until it flashed once. I then opened the door and closed the door (still seated in the seat) and then used the fob to lock the door. I then used the fob to unlock the door and the seat remained where I had positioned it.
I retried the first way above and the seat goes back to the previously progrogrammed position when you use the FOB unlock button. ie the seat movd when it should not have.
Tried the second way once again and when I used the FOB to unlock the door, the seat remained where I had set it. I tried one last time by moving the seat way back sort of simulating the EASY OUT function. I opened the door and then used the FOB to lock the door and then again to unlock the door (Never got out of the seat). The seat moved to what I believe was the setting I had just made. ie it seemed to function correctly.
On my car it seems you need to open the door after you program the memory and then lock the door with the FOB to have the setting truely saved.
My experience is that the operation of the MEMORY function in the C5 is not as consistent as in either of my other two (non GM) vehicles. Of course I haven't tried waving a dead black cat over my head 13 times yet........ As always YMMV.
