Default Still waiting on Hood!!!

It's only been since 2/22/16 that I was in my accident.....and still don't have the hood from Ecklers!!! I'm very frustrated and not a happy camper at all! They've told (lied to) me twice that it was getting ready to be made or being made and it wasn't! While I understand they source it out to Stinger and they hand make them, and Ecklers is supposed to be their top client, pushing everyone else's orders aside, I'm very tired of this waiting game and being lied to!

It was supposedly shipped out today! It was supposed to have been to body shop two weeks ago, according to Ecklers! My body guy ordered it March 11, but Ecklers didn't put the order through until March 24!! All because they HAD to add him as a commercial client and check his accounts, etc.! What a bunch of BS man! I've about had it! I certainly don't EVER want to go through this again in my entire life!!!!! I swear to God that if anyone else hits me or dings my car, I will kill them!! I'm seeing everyone else out there driving around in this absolutely beautiful weather here in NC! I just want my car back and want to drive it, considering I only had it for 2 months prior to the damn accident!!!

Sorry for the rant, just frustrated, as I'm sure anyone else would be....!

I know it is frustrating when you are waiting on parts, especially when it dictates whether you can drive your car or not. I drove mine without my radio bezel and center console for a few weeks and it was aggravating, but at least I could drive it. Amazing how noisy it is without them.
I hope it all gets done quickly from here on.

Please post up some pics when you get it finished. I remember voting on your hood, front fascia, and I think there was something else.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Thanks Lewis! Appreciate the empathy! I certainly will be posting pics once I get her back...hoping end of next week. Keep your fingers crossed!

I didn't end up going with either of those hoods lol. I might have put a link to the one I ended up with, but not sure who saw it. Bumper is there and my body guy said it fit pretty darn good! Happy about that!

Hope your hood did in fact ship today. I understand how frustrating it can be waiting for parts to arrive.

Look on the bright side. It gives you plenty of time to remove those hideous louvers on your tail lights...........

If I had that information available to me, I'd be "googling" Stinger's e-mail and/or phone number, and contacting them directly.....politely, of course.

I have been restoring one and I am way past the date I had set, and way over budget.

I got pissed off countless times before I realized that my build was supposed to be about fun and to accept all the lag time. I know it is torture in spring time.

I was going to post several times, but decided not to, but I have to agree, with others that Ecklars is not the place to go, especially for a hood. I've seen others in the past having to spend 800 dollars at the body shop to correct and properly fit an Ecklars hood.

I am not sure you could find a single knowledgeable person here to recommend Ecklars as a hood supplier.

With the wealth of knowledge here, other would agree with me that it would be in your best interest to cancel that hood, and get one from a reputable source like Dennis at DD mods, or RK sports.

The cost of " Cheap " is just too costly.

Good luck in whatever you do... most of us here are in your corner, and sometimes the truth hurts.

If I were going to replace a body part with a genuine OE GM part, I would get an original used part from ebay or such. Would be much cheaper and would be the real thing meaning better fitment, less labor.

Ya im not sure why anyone would sit on an order to move ecklers to the top of the list, I guess that information and the cya information came from ecklers themselves, they are a middleman for this kind of stuff (as you know) and trying to justify their existance by over promising so you buy through them..... because the timeframe seems about right imo for a made to order hood on a decade old design (6 to 8 weeks).

Be patient and make sure you give the bodyshop plenty of time to get fit and finish up to par.

Good luck

And dont kill anybody

She wanted a custome hood, but I agree for oem parts because the finish is already done on a used part.

Thanks everyone for the kinds words! Never knew Eckler's wasn't the place to go anymore. I had purchased something else from them and was here when they said. You can bet I won't be purchasing anything else from them in the future!!

The hood came in last Tuesday (5/3/16). Found out Friday that he was having to sand the waves out (not happy to hear after reading up on Stinger's website how meticulous they are when making hoods). Body guy said the bumper fit pretty well, thank God! Why 3 days to sand? I was really hoping to have it for Mother's Day! Guess not. It needs to be ready for this Saturday as I'm waiting to put her in our local Corvette for Vets show with my local corvette club.

Do you guys think we need to take a ride up there to check on it or will that be bugging him too much?? Otherwise, when I call he never answers and it can take a day or two to get him to respond to texts. It's only him and one other guy and I know he's out straight. Maybe another text with the car show flyer letting him know I have to make this show?

And akapounder......no I'm not mad at you! You're too much of a little stinker to get mad at!

A good body man = patience /// the guy I use could spend a day on just one door gap, he wants it perfect and when he is done with a car it is awesome !!!!!

I like to be different and am paying the price for it with my patience (or lack thereof). If I ever HAVE to go through this again, I'll make sure I get some good references from everyone here first!! On a good note, I saved enough $ and got Eckler's to give that shipping discount so body guy certainly is getting his labor's worth!

If the guy has a lot of work, your insistence or pressure will only make him rush the job... If he isn't busy , it may not be an issue.. It has a whole lot to do with personality. His personality. !!!

Some guys need a kick in the *** and subscribe to the notion that if the customer doesn't care, he can put your car on the back burner. So he can bring in more work.. Most body shops take your car apart ( first thing ) so they can tie it up and keep you from taking it somewhere else. Every body shop is different. Some have a really good customers service mentality, but most that I have seen over 50 years, Do not. Pushing them could help, but pushing them could leave you very disappointed.

If they have been sanding your car for 3 days.. even if they only did 4 hours a day @ 80 an hour ) that 960 dollars that's not fitting or painting either. add paint and materials. That's about 1800 dollars on top of the cost of the hood.
