How can i improve my 60' times
Hello everyone!I have an 02 Z with a 500 rwhp stroker LS6.Stock suspension and MT STREET SS tires.I have the car lowered on the stock bolts all the way currently. If i were to raise the car back up would it give me a little weight transfer and help my 60' times at all? Also i have MTI BIG RED sway bars and also the stock sways.Which set up might help me?
I have made 9 1/8 mile passes so far with average 1.9 60'.Car went 7.75 @ 96 mph,and runs 7.80's consistently.Track doesnt have the best grip so i need any tips you guys could share.
My next track will be 1/4mile.Thanx in advance

No pro here but brining it up to stock height, disconnect the end links on front sway and installing the stock rear bar would probably help you 60. Your tires might be holding you back as well depending on size. Playing with tire pressure will help as well. I wouldn't drive on the street with the sway disconnected in the front but it's fine for the track.

Melting Slicks
Play around with the tire pressure...I usually start around 22psi and go down. Also....M/T dr's need one good burnout..the subsequent burnouts don't have to be very long.

In addition, your clutch will have an impact on your 60'. What clutch are you running?
DRs are much tougher to get to launch than a bias ply tire on a stick car. It is compounded by the smaller sidewall. If using a DR, a 17" or 16" tire would be a much better choice. With that said, a 16" bias ply tire and skinnies would greatly increase consistency and generally produce much better 60s.

It will be good enough for 1.5s-1.6s. Since it is comprised of organic discs, it can be slipped relatively easily. A small amount of clutch slip is imperative with a DR. DRs tend to wheelhop or over spin on aggressive launches. (Dead hooking can break parts; especially with a stiff sidewall.) As stated above, you would be better served by a bias ply. They recover far better than a DR and need several revolutions for an optimal launch which is much more easily achieved.

Will a bias ply bring better than a 1.5 60'?Just curious how low 60' times can get

The short answer is yes; however, it really depends on the entire setup and technique. Lower gears such as a set of 4.10s make it easier to attain better 60s in an N/A combo. We have seen mid to high 1.3s on two different 16s. (M&H 26x12x16 and Hoosier 28x11.50x16 QTP) In addition, we have seen 1.40 on a MT ET Street.

Start out with a good burnout then slip the clutch a little. With a DR you should be in the low 7's. With that kind of power. I pull 1.90 60's with street tires running 7.80s at 92. What are you launching at RPMs should be around 3000 with DRs.

Track conditions really are bad.I think with everything ive learned and going to a different track this week,im gonna see better results.
Ive been autocrossing and roadcourse racing for 4 years now and have good luck keeping traction, but drag racing is a different animal
