Owners Manual - Did you really read it????
The suggestion to read the owners manual is often made and is good advice.
My first car, 65 Impala, must have had a 30 page 1/3 sheet sized booklet. Not much going on in those old cars.
The newer manuals are darn near the size of a big city phonebook!
I tend to read it when I need something, so I have not read the manual cover to cover.
Have you???

I have two Owners Manual's one I keep in the car & the second in my home for quick looks without having to go out to the garage. I did give it a good look-see when I first got the vette but do give it read when I have a need for info. Still learning from the manual & the Forum...

Yes, I read it. Lots of good info in there on how things work on the car.

First thing I did to my '00 FRC when I got it home was sit down with a nice bottle of Crown Royal, made sure the icemaker was on, and read it cover to cover. Many good tidbits of info in there.

ABSOFRIGGENLOOTLY! I read it cover to cover. You actually learn something about your car when you read the book.
Some of the comfort functions have specific set up things that is NICE to know.
You are doing your self a disfavor if you don't read through it. Some of the information is regular everyday every car stuff, Some information will be "WOW, I didn't realize that!
The Corvette Action Center has all the PDF Owners Manuals in their KNOWLEDGE BASE:

I read them whenever I get another car. Frequently there are features that I didn't know about, or preferences that can be set.
My first car was a '65 Impala too (Silver/black interior/327/automatic/SS). I read that manual too. I was surprised to see a 409 in the manual since I thought they only had the 396 as optional.

Read the owners handbook for starters. Then, if are going to do any work on the car yourself, get the service manuals, they are indispensable - the first "accessory" I bought for my C5.
And yes, I do still have the DVD that came with the car.........

It's also a great place to start to look up something you may need to know at the moment - it's a great reference book even if you don't want to read through the whole thing.
But you can find out so many things you never even considered if you do read it.
I have a friend in NJ who recently got a new Subaru Legacy with all the latest doodads.
The manual for the car is a couple of hundred pages long, and there's a separate manual for the GPS/Navigation System/Radio/Bluetooth that is also over 200 pages long. When you make something that complicated, nobody is going to plow through that to read it, then not understand it, not even the salesman knew how the system worked.
So, for that car, Fugetaboutit.
