Default High pitched sound

When my key is turned to the on position ,, motor not running I can hear a high pitched sound . it sounds like it is coming from under the hood... it almost sounds like the seat belt warning only it is a steady sound.. I can still hear it after I start the motor .. It's not real loud but noticable.. This is on a 2004 Vette that I just purchased.... Thanks for any information...

My guess is the fuel pump. I have it on my 2004 as well. Can usually hear it when sitting idle at a stop too.

I assume it is a normal sound and not anything to be concerned about ?

when you turn the key to ON, you should hear the fuel pump prime (high pitched whine) for 2 seconds, then shut off. When you start the engine, the pump will continue to run. Is that what you're experiencing?

It doesn't shut off after 2 seconds and continues after I start the engine.

Check the Throttle Body. When I cleaned mine it was emitting a high pitched noise.

Would the Throttle Body do that with the key in the on position and the motor not running ?

It could be. My wife's Audi does this. Turn the key to on and stick your ear to the TB to see if it's it.

Not sure if it's normal but yes, when the key is in the ON position the TB receives power and you can press the gas pedal to move the flap so you can clean the TB.
